It's kind of funny, Ouchez, We work hard to get to the point that we understand and can deal with the swings. To the point that results of hands, even max bet hands with some splits and double downs, really have little meaning. And when we finally get to this point, we have to learn to turn on the act as if they do bother us.
Defining discipline (title of thread): Discipline is walking into a casino, sitting down at a six deck game. The count goes positive early on and you start throwing out and losing max bet after max bet. Doubledowns, splits. Everything seems to lose. At the shuffle you get up and walk rather than revert back to a small bet. You are down 8 grand. You walk across the street to another casino. Sit down at a six deck game and start betting your minimum wager, $25. The count stays neutral for three shoes. No spikes up or down. You continue to bet your minimum wager for all three shoes, never tempted to bet more and chase the previous losses. At the end of the third shoe, you get up and walk, up $37.50 for the session, down $7962.50 for the day. You think about the two sessions and you feel good because you racked up $90 in EV. That my friends is discipline.

waking up in the morning excited about the days blackjack prospects despite 9 straight days of losses and being in the red every single day of the year so far. This is discipline.
