I think all of us should ask the casinos what they are doing to provide germ free chips.
Not disagreeing with anything you're saying, but ... you're at a table with other players who touch the chips for every hand. They lose and those chips are touched by the dealer who puts them in the tray. Then you win and the dealer gives you those same chips that were touched by one or more of the other players. What good does washing do??

Agree. However, some procedures could be easily changed which could reduce the risk some what. First, no more holding the cards in double deck games. They can be dealt out of a shoe like 6 deck face up. I know of several casinos that already do this.

Second, losing chips could be put on one side of the chip tray, and winnings hands paid from the other side of the tray. At least, the same few chips would not go back and forth constantly. Any delay will weaken the virus somewhat. On some surfaces the virus only lives for a few hours. Instead of bringing fills to the table, a whole new tray of chips could be brought already counted. Dealer should wash his hands every time he goes on break. Any other ideas out there.

Throw losing players into vat of bleach. Throw winners into vat of gin.
