Hey guys,
I was wondering if anybody knows the average number of cards per hand while playing basic strat. Thanks in advance

2.7 cards per hand used in blackjack. I think this is in Blackjack Attack somewhere.

My computer calculations for six decks resulted in
If the dealer stands on soft 17 (S17 rule), he takes 2.904745 cards on average and busts in 28.192134 %.
If the dealer hits on soft 17 (H17 rule), he takes 2.930763 cards on average and busts in 28.576020 %.
The H17 number of approximately 2.93 cards for the dealer quite well corresponds to the diagram in the link posted above.
But I did no Monte Carlo simulation for different number of players at the table. Rather than that, I computed the exact numbers
using combinatorial analysis, but assuming the dealer plays out his hand in any case, and ignoring any players or their potential cards or busts.

Yes of course. That's the reason why with only one player, the number in the linked table is significantly lower, 2.78 rather than more than 2.92. I guess the usual procedure for the dealer is to not play out her hand if all players busted or had a natural. But I am not sure if there are any casinos that require the dealer to play out her hand in any case (someone recently mentioned such a procedure in another thread).
Nice 2.75 combined. So about 50 (47.27) hands for an individual per 8 deck shoe if they go 5/8. Or 9.45 hands per deck. Thanks guys. Or is the player going to receive more hands due to busts? 10 seems legit. Lol.
Assuming 1 person vs a dealer.
