I don't really do that, but I do mildly if I'm holding a conversation. With practice it becomes easier to keep the count.

I notice most of us use "minus" to denote negative numbers. I personally use "neg-" because it flows better in my head.
I count two numbers that can go minus so for one I just think 'N", and one, from a good suggestion on this board, I count negative in Spanish, it's the main count, so I just know if I'm thinking Spanish, where I am.
But I was fluent in Spanish before this, so it is easy. But a really good way to track negatives. And not have to worry about dropping that "minus" and getting completely screwed up.

I have known only one counter who is perfectly fluent in more than one language and has found it
helpful to count - and side-count - in more than one language.

Hmmm. here is a cute fantasy: A BJ team that speaks multiple non-roman languages,
excluding languages that can likely be encountered by patrons and staff in a casino.
Using Cockney Rhyming Slang, African tongues, Aramaic, Latin, etc. they could share
info out loud at the tables, even side-count every uncounted rank. Very powerful.
A blackjack lexicon consisting of small(ish) numbers and a handful of verbs and nouns
suffices. No grammar, gender or tenses needed. Sounds easy to do.

Oooo, that sounds like a fun movie.

I have trouble switching between languages. I can't think in one and speak in another, so unless I'm in a boarder town, negatives in Spanish would be too difficult.

I stand corrected on "minus." It appears less popular than I thought.

Try visualization. See the minuses with the negative sign and red color. See the positives as black without a sign.

When starting a 2D, I also push my penis down the left side against my left leg to remind myself that I am in the 1st deck. I push it down the right side against my right leg while I enter the 2nd deck.

Of course, when the cute cocktail waitress goes by, my "system" springs out of control and all bets are off.

I count aces with a visual, Roman numerals, I don't even think a number, so no chance of mixing it with others, see an ace, just increment the picture.
