HI Guys!
Would BJ21.com be worthwhile to sign up for? Is it still recent and up to date? (I will still remain the biggest fan of this site)
Thank You
its great, has lots of great stuff in its archives, the BJ Insider is great. The paid pages are more like a graduate class and while you can read the discussions, if you dare try to enter (post) then you risk a very nasty group that will humiliate you far worse than on this forum. Also, unlike here, there are more proponents of the dimple counts there.
It's a good site and a lot of good info from serious players. But I agree with Z that it's a pretty tough crowd, so don't post a question until you have done at least a little due diligence on the subject.
That's why I use a different username over there (bet you can't guess it). I knew I'd get blasted by the pros over there and I didn't want to taint my name on both sites. Although at this point, I don't think I have much left to lose anyway
ZeeBabar,
I figured, what the heck, and subscribed to both BJ21 and BJInsider a few years back. The Green Chip forums on BJ21 provide a wealth of information (who cares if anyone is perceived as being mean, sometimes posters deserve what they get), not to mention I have found the CBJN monthly report to be quite useful, although not always up to date, nor providing information that some might want to protect, and thus not disclose.
BJInsider, OTOH, has been an absolute waste of my money. Talk about Negative EV!!!! I would have rather put that my subscription payment toward 1 hand in a H17, 6:5, D9, NDAS, NS, CSM dealt game.

A membership at BJ21.com is absolutely worth it! When I first started counting, I didn't belong to any forums for the first year or so, but BJ21.com was the first site I joined; I have to say that I learned more within a few weeks on BJ21 by absorbing information from older posts/archives, than I learned in the previous year on my own. There's a wealth of knowledge over there with contributions from many serious players.
I've also networked and met with a few posters from that site and have found it to be EXTREMELY beneficial. So in my opinion, the small monthly fee is very +EV. I agree with Flash though, there isn't much going on in the free pages. If you join, get a GC membership. Also, CBJN is definitely worth a look too if you travel to play every now and then.

Keep in mind that CBJN is simply a guide with no guarantees of accuracy. I just came back from a quickie organized cheap flight scenario to hot Vegas. Though accurate in a general sense, The biggest error seems to be poor reporting of rules which leads to erroneous house edges. Also, unless I made an error of casino name, my fastest backoff ever came from a Vegas store not even listed. Just happened to be very close to what is referred to as a sweat shop, but found a non sweated high spread dd game.
Regardless, the info is generally good, but should be supplemented by networking info. It is worth the fee when info is needed.
Agree completely. I recently offered Al to update a region for CBJN thats pretty far outside of my home-base, but part of my travel rotation. Man... The report was waaay off. But to be fair, that region had not been updated for about almost two years. A lot changed since the last report. Aside that region, I've found many inaccuracies compared to the report, but it's still a good place to start.
In my opinion, Ryemo is the poster child for how a new AP could and should develop into a skilled player. I recall when he first joined BJ21 (2-3 years ago?) and was learning the ropes. In that short time, he became a well-respected and knowledgeable member of BJ21. He did a lot of studying - reading books, buying software, and reading the invaluable BJ21 archives. He asked appropriate and though-provoking questions, but never asked to be spoon-fed with things that could be found simply by opening Wong's "Professional Blackjack" and referring to one of the charts or tables. I have the utmost respect for his knowledge, intelligence, and AP abilities.
OTOH, there was another BJ21 member who joined about 4 years ago. He did the complete opposite of Ryemo and was ridiculed on BJ21, called a troll many times, and finally left. He behaves similarly on some car forums and has been ridiculed there as well. I won't mention any names in this case.
The only downside of BJ21, in my opinion, is the forum software is very outdated, reminiscent of something from the DOS days.
I agree that BJInsider is a waste of money.
Some guys simply develop a passion, which is fed by a voracious desire to improve oneself. This includes absorption of all kinds if material. Ryemo displayed those attributes, and which I noted in my waning days at bj21. He has displayed those qualities here. He kind of reminds me of..........me. i do get the strong impression that he is much younger than me, which in itself creates different approaches - the ultimate goal, of course, is to win.
I believe he is one of those individuals who can create golden nuggets of info, for all to absorb. It will also be interesting to view his continuing development.
