Thread: Accused of card counting without actually counting?

I used to work there as a Dealer/Trainer of dealers and security. Run, don't walk from this place! Security is certainly nothing to be concerned about, as most of them are dumb as a stump. We used to take the people we would get in the blackjack training dept., and if they couldn't make it as a dealer, we would train them in for security in the sky. So....not the brightest bulbs in the bunch. What you need to know, and most people don't think about is that nothing in the Casino is regulated. Nothing. Food, gaming, crime - it is all the wild west. They can do whatever they want to you. Thanks to the Indians buying off the politicians on this matter in MN. They mostly accuse you of being a card counter if you vary your bets and are winning over 5K there. Most management there is just too stupid to know how to card count themselves, let alone figure out if you are. I will tell you a story, and let you decide if you want to continue playing there. Dealing in high stakes for over a decade I was almost sure they were taking cards out of decks - I went to the gaming commission (a part of Mystic, and a joke as they are self regulated) and told them this. I also had someone on the next shift watch the cards being put away. Yes, confirmed. Of course shortly later I was set up and fired. So......if you are a card counter you will know that if certain cards are missing from the deck it is a wide advantage to the house. There was so much pressure on the Pits and shifts to perform that I believe this is/was not rare. Now, since Native Americans are put in management there with little gaming knowledge, I can tell you that a lot goes on that they are clueless about. Like the dealer that stole from me, and I then watched steal from the casino. She is still there. So the place is one big joke - slots as tight as can be, food is unregulated. Tips are not given to the dealers. Save your money and go gamble in Vegas or the East Coast. They are greedy thieves.

If I was going to play for high stakes I would request brand new decks to be opened in front of me. It will cost the house a few bucks to crack open a new deck or two but it would help put a players mind at ease if they know and see that all of the cards are in the deck or decks to be played if the big money is about to hit the felt.

If you don't trust a casino, don't play at that casino. Asking for new cards would draw enormous attention.

Often times casino management are so stupid they back off basic strategy players and even card counters who just aren't very good and the casinos don't realize they have a good customer there. The revenue that they are missing out on backing these players off is probably massive over the long term. Paranoia is definitely a revenue killer.

    To the OP.

I am unfamiliar with the casino so I don't know if this would even work, but, why not try to get a hold of the casino manager or anyone who is higher on the food chain and let them know what happened. Also, let them know who said that to you and that you are taking your business elsewhere.

That's what I would do. If they have a brain or evaluated you even half assed once or twice the original PB may catch heat for it.

I have been chased out for "counting" when I didn't even spread and was playing 6:5. I have also been half shoed for purposely spreading opposite to the count and eventually told to leave when I was winning.

I know of recreational players who were not counting being backed off after a good size win.

Now that you've a little cash maybe it's time to take a break from the game and learn to play with an advantage.

Or you can continue to play basic strategy and eventually give back your win.

I agree. They will peg you from the beginning. If you are in the Minneapolis area play at Canterbury - down the road from Mystic. Low table limits there, but even a casual player at the unregulated Indian Casinos in MN is just donating their money. I doubt that Mystic would even break out new cards if asked. They do what they want. They are a sovereign nation. And stay away from the slots that pay out nothing. If by some miracle you are able to catch a big hit on them....their MO is to take your picture, post it for PR sake and then find some asinine reason not to pay it in the end.
