The 2nd best straight count game I ever played was a single deck s17/das and they would routinely deal 7-8 rounds heads up and tolerated my discreet and respectful 2x25 to 2x1000 (table min to table max) spread. Played there once a month on junkets, would camp each time for the entire trip and no problems. Then word got out and some jerks came by and took advantage of the joint and were a little too aggressive on the game and it ended.

My last trip there they converted the sd to a dd with 50% pen. I asked the critter where the SD went and she replied oh we still have it, its just we deal the 1 deck outta 2 so its the same thing. Needless to say it is not the same thing and so my honey pot was spoiled.....

I take it you never played the Caesars or Maxim SD, S17, DAS, LS games from the '70s and '80s.

Unfortunately i never did. Played some SD at Maxim's a few months and through the time that they tapped out but dont recall the rules at the time. I have it recorded on my database in my non-functional computer. I didnt start playing until much much later as I am significantly younger than many of the posters on here.

What were the games like at Caesars and Maxims in terms of pen and tolerance?

    Thanks

It is simply very well known that, at that time, Caesars offered the best games anywhere. Maxim soon followed suit. When the SD games finally disappeared, Maxim continued to offer DD with S17, DAS, and LS. Managed by Billy Zender, Maxim had a very liberal policy. I played there for years and never had a problem. And, of course, the Caesars main pit offered the best possible rules for their shoe games: S17, DAS, LS, and RSA, forever.

Yeah, but didn't Caesars have the mentality that "nobody can count a six deck shoe."

Those were the days late 70's and 80's....I never got heat! I think the only place I got barred was at the Mint (next door to the Horsehoe) where I got back-roomed and accused of wearing a computer to beat the table. When I said you can search me, they went to the closet, took out a computer wearing device that hooked up to the toes and said "We, don't have to search you again, we already did and took this device off you...didn't we guys...and all the people in the room shook their heads up and down! Gulp...that was scary. I think I also got barred at the Barbary Coast ....but everywhere else was open season. As Don S. said earlier...I loved Caesars then (currently barred)...no heat at all, could play all night...and I frequently did. I was playing black chips back then at 18. Show ID??? Never.....
