As you know, Down Under ENHC (and no surrender at all) is all we get here. Here, dealer deals one card (all face-up) each and one to the dealer; then a second card each; but withholding the dealer's second card until all the players have either stood, busted or been paid on a blackjack. Then the dealer plays his own hand. With only 13 casinos here in a country almost as huge as the US, we have large capital cities each with only one casino. This means casinos virtually do whatever they like, and the playing public is continually screwed sumthin bad. All this is virtual certain death for the already-doomed player. There oughta be a law against it. OCCUPY MONOPOLIES.

    You aren't forced to play.

Indeed so. But in Australia around 9% of state tax revenues come directly from "gambling", mostly the pokies (slots), and
so if everyone voted with their feet, there'd probably be no publicly funded healthcare services. I think Oz has the highest per
capita spend on gambling related services anywhere in the world ($3,000+ for every man, woman and child in the Country).

A bit of a dilemma the Aussies have got themselves really - dependent on gambling taxation to balance the books. How do
you turn that around, without the extreme move of taking the whole sector into State ownership (which would severely cheese
    off Mr Packer)?

That would force the government to regulate rules that would allow the revenue stream to come back or lose the revenue. Isn't that exactly the point of voting with your feet. If it were up to the corporation voting with your feet sometimes has undesirable results.

Well, they could copy the CIA and and traffic in cocaine and teenage prostitution to fund the government.

Son of the late Kerry Packer The Whale - James - could not give a rat's about anyone balancing the books other than his own corporate books... and he's preoccupied with stores in Hong Kong and Lost Wages to bother anyway. Not to mention his newly-acquired licence to build Sydney's second casino. *GASP* (Could this finally mean that in a city of 5 million, we will get competition at last? Nope, don't mean that at all. Most likely it will only mean collusion, meaning more of the same.)

For an American, you seem to have some very weird ideas about your CIA. Have you been reading the Zen Zone?

Sorry, I didn't realise that the late Kerry Packer had gone to the great VIP suite in the sky . . .

No need to be sorry. Kerry himself never had a sorry bone in his body about anything. Even after his young Brazilian mistress killed herself after he booted her out of the apartment he'd provided when she'd reached her use-by date. Respect for the dead? Why? He had a reputation as a cold-hearted, ruthless SOB Nazi-type businessman. And he taught his son James, well. James is a cloned chip off the old block, only more sophisticated than his old man ever was.

Read the book called "The Praetorian Guard" by a former CIA officer John Stockwell. That'll change your attitude.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
