    Depressing report from A.C.

A friend of mine emailed this to me:

"I went to A.C. this past weekend and was shocked by what I saw. The $10, $15 blackjack tables at Harrah's are now ... not 3:2 blackjack, not 6:5 blackjack but EVEN money blackjack, plus they all hit soft 17's and of course have side bets! In addition, they changed all of the 25 cent full pay Jacks or Better video poker machines to $1. I guess greed knows no bounds. Since I can't play blackjack there anyway (not that I'd ever want to) I told the people at the blackjack table they were throwing their money away playing that game and that they were better off going to the Borgata or the Nugget if they cared at all about how much money they lose. The dealer just laughed and smiled at me. Of course with them being pathetic gamblers, they still chose to sit there and keep playing. I guess as long as there are stupid people, casinos will still make money hand over first. The Wild Wild West on Saturday night though was one hopping party zone. The entire area of the former casino was filled with college students with a live band playing. There must have been about 1000 people there all drinking, playing beer pong, other games and dancing. They also have a few table games."

Are you sure this wasn't double-attack BJ or BJ Switch?

    Next, 4:5 blackjack.

The player is a rather 'anal' dude and is a teetotaler as well.
I believe that he was referring to the old "Wild Wild West",
which is really being used like a weekend "party pit"

I was just thinking of the worst game that I have ever seen.
Last year I was giving someone what amounted to a walking
tour of 'downtown' Vegas when we saw it ! Yes, "it" ! Wow !

At the Golden Nugget, by the pool, there it was ! A coterie of
inebriated millennials playing what used to be called blackjack.

Eight 8 decks, H17, 6:5 'snappers', restricted doubles, NDAS

Maybe your friend was playing an April fools joke on you. The only table that pays even money is double attack.

I very much doubt this is true. Why would they skip from 3:2 to even money? And I haven't seen any non-single deck/variant games ever in AC that did not pay 3:2. If even money BJ ever becomes a thing in the US, my guess is that it will start in Vegas, not AC.

The only explanation for this (worthless) thread: ZeeBabar somehow hacked ZenMaster's account to post this nonsense.

There are 6 to 5 non single deck games in Atlantic city .
But definitely not any bj pays even money at Harrahs.

My apologies, you are correct w/r/t that. I have seen 6:5 in the party areas. Still, it's not like Vegas where the norm is 6:5. So I'm still finding Zen's claim highly dubious.

I don't think NJ law allows 1:1 BJ, unless you're playing a specialty game, like DAB or BJSwitch:

N.J.A.C. 13:69F-2.3 (e) After each round of play is complete, the dealer shall collect all losing wagers and pay off all winning wagers. All winning wagers made in accordance with (a)above shall be paid at odds of 1 to 1 with the exception of standard blackjack which shall be paid at odds of 3 to 2, or at odds of 6 to 5 for the 6 to 5 blackjack variation....
It goes on to talk about additional, authorized bonuses.
