Those that tend to gravitate to the minimal effort for any task wouldn't do the math to see how BJA quantified the difference. It is kind of sad that people aren't more motivated to learn about their passion and/or profession.

You cannot plan on hole carding when you go to a casino. How often can you find a dealer exposing the hole card? Once every time you enter a casin or once a day or once a month or what? I suppose if you did find such a dealer in your nearest casino, you could go to his shift.

so you find a dealer, the count is TC+6, you have your max bet out, you have a 15, dealer has a 6 upcard, you spot the hole card and it's a 5, do you surrender?

The first time I played the HC was when I was walking through a casino about a year ago. I saw the flash and headed to The Seat. The dealer, a dual rate, was showing the card nearly 100% of the time. I sat there for half an hour and piled up nearly $2K. I left shortly after the relief dealer came to the table. This was a 1D 6:5 game. These days I go into an area with multiple casinos and scout for HC games, primarily. If I see a good count game I play it. If not, I return on the next shift and look. Yes, HC games are not easy to find but worth it when you do. Poker is my fall back option when BJ is not playable.

Playing the HC can get advantages ~ 13%. Avoiding suspicious plays ~ 10%. If I'm "drunk" I might hit that 15 vs 6. Flashing games are (nearly) all pitch, so no surrender allowed where I play.
