If that is your real work e-mail address, I would highly recommend that you protect your identity by removing the e-mail address from your posting. Found your name in less than a minute logging onto that website, and entering a search.

Also, I would suggest that you consider removing this post in its entirety, as it provides MGM a ton of information as to who you might be. Your anonymity is a tremendous asset to AP (card counting included) career. Posting your employer and your e-mail address tend to work against your interests, if you value your anonymity.

It's possible that newsy isn't an AP, rather a reporter looking for feedback from a non ploppy perspective.

I removed it. I think he's just a reporter though. Better to be safe I guess.

Valid point, and I see that he just joined the forum yesterday. He is indeed listed as a reporter for that publication, and he has reported on casinos for it. So, although I suspect you are right, he might be more than a reporter, and intrigued by the conversations that take place here (May the flying spaghetti monster help him).

So just had a real encouraging trip to MGM. They still had plenty of 6:5 crap open but they had a number of 3:2 pits as well. I played a great 3:2 S17 RSA LS 6 deck game with about 75% pen with a $25 min. It is ASM and there is no mid shoe entry. I kept a low profile and played with a card as I just wanted to get a feel for the place. They also had 3:2 H17 tables at a $15 min using a CSM and a few 3:2 H17 shoe at a $25 min. Ironically the 6:5 tables were at a higher minimum than most of the 3:2 tables. Shows how uninformed people are.

How was the randomness of the "shuffle"? Fair or clumps? Glad to hear the drop to $15 min during the week.

"Fair" includes clumps. Usually hand shuffled games have more clumping than ASM's or at least take longer to break up a clump once it has formed.

Just wondering about clumpiness at mgm. Are we seeing a shuffle or an arrangement from these eminently capable machines?

Fair includes reasonable clumps appearing in reasonably frequency. I have seen ASM creates extreme clumps almost every shoe all day. Then the day after, the same ASM returned to fair status.

In my experience, the casinos with bad rules, their ASM ALWAYS generate fair sequence. The casino with good rules, their ASM seems to have the ability to generate clump shoes on demand. I guess every casino needs to make money some way.

As I said, just like a hand shuffle. It takes a long time to break up clumps once they form.

Exactly. So on these few mgm tables with most favorable rules, do clumps coincide?

Clumps exist whether ASM or hand shuffle. That is how we get our advantage. My results indicate there are no unbeatable conditions. I usually win at way above EV but have occasional corrections that bring me back to EV. These corrections can be long periods of up and down that have a small win over a few weeks of play or a day or 2 of catastrophic losses. These corrections are randomly distributed between all the properties I play. They seem to happen 2 or 3 times a year. And leading into them and after the worm turns in my favor there is a much higher than EV stretches that balances it out. I have had whole weekends where the dealer hit out on me "every time" spread between a half dozen casinos. Clumps usually mean nice profit opportunities but I guess that depends on the nature of your count's ride. Sometimes you just get your ass handed to you in great counts. The dealer has just as much a chance to pull good cards as you do. When the sack has so many marbles in it to draw from the short term of the marbles drawn doesn't say much about what marbles are in the sack.
