I spent last week playing in several MidWestern states.

Most of the casinos are small but reasonably friendly.

When my partner and I found ourselves driving past

St Joseph, MO there was a casino that we had never played at.

It was "TERRIBLES" I am told, but now is "St. Jo's FRONTIER"

It was Noon when we stopped in. The table games were CLOSED.

NO BJ until after 1:00 p.m. but we saw that large bright signs were

displayed on the BJ Tables declaring that SURRENDER was in effect.

We left and continued our quest. Nearing midnight, we returned.

The BJ games were pathetic. They kept only a half stack of blacks on

the tables. Dealers were slow and unskilled. But get a load of this:

If you buy-in with a 'benjamin' they first hold the bill up to a light

and then they employ the special pen that we have all seen. Why do

I mention this ? They performed the same ritual on EVERY bill, no

matter the denomination. I was 'laughing out loud' when I saw them

closely examining $5 and $1 bills. Dealers and pit critters alike were

rude, hostile, and generally unpleasant and unwelcoming.

The patrons BJ skill level was the worst we have ever seen. There was a

small gang of young locals who insisted that we would double ANY soft hand

and did so. Ain't nothin' like doubling Ace-2 or Ace-9 against a dealer high card.

Splitting was also a bizarre olympic sport at these tables.

They even have a "tub" for a Craps Table that they use at night.

For the uninitiated, that is a tiny 6 foot table with stools for the

players and ONE person acting as the dealer, the stick, and the box.

At 1:45 a.m. they announced that you MUST leave the tables and

cash out because they "lock the doors" at 2:00 a.m.

They did. L.O.L.
