A $3 Proposition to newbies and intermediate players.

I have been a Pro BJ player for over 23 years and have played on several continents and across the USA.

I steadfastly refuse to pay the (truly) trivial monthly fee for full access to this website.

The amount is close to non-existent ~ as I believe it is $3.

Why do I refuse you may ask ?

I have a six figure cash bankroll and often play for significant sums; but I view myself (in this context)

as a semi-retired professor of BJ amid a sea of students with varying abilities, experiences, and foibles.

I actually feel that I should be payed an honorarium of $1 per annum for posting here. (and giving that to charity)

I have taught college and I have done voluntary tutoring of students as well, though those days are well behind me.

The first person who agrees to send our stalwart Web Master, Norm Wattinger, the $3 fee on my behalf will gain

my invaluable PRIVATE services in mentoring them in BJ (and some other games) via FaceTime / Skype / email

with opportunities to meet face to face at home and in casinos.

Please feel free to contact me at this throwaway gmail address: [email protected]

I prefer that sarcastic, hostile, silly, and mentally unstable respondents refrain from contacting me.

Well Zen, that leaves me out!

Lol well I guess that is one option.

My only contention to your post is that you voluntarily post here and thus you obviously don't think that the value of your posts are worth more than "FREE."

I say this in jest but it is partly true.

I'll pay one month. I don't skype though so consider it a thank you from someone who has enjoyed and learned from your posts (very much a beginner here). I'll likely go back to just reading after this post.

    Should I just message Norm?

Norm says: "I'm not getting involved. You'll have to arrange it with him."

Coundos, Contact me, and I will give you my Pay Pal account info.

A number of professional players that participate on this site or did up until recently, refuse to pay the $3/month membership and I am quite sure it is not a matter of affordability for any of us.

But your attitude and proposal, is not only bizarre, but quite sad, Flash. I feel bad and I am embarrassed for you. You are better that this, or at least you used to be.

Obviously, this has nothing to do with money.
It is a matter of principal. Nothing more.

    KJ,

    Why don't you do us all a favor, or at least me at any rate;
and explain just what it is that you find "bizarre" and "sad" ?

If this opportunity still exists or comes up again I will happily pay a few bucks for your insight.

Well, KJ might not but I will attempt it my way. I think you are a great AP but as you refuse to pay Norm, I too refuse to pay $3 on your behalf to get your expertise, though certain it would help me.

It almost seems like an ex-prof resorting to "hustling" to get himself some "students", basically extolling your experience and expertise with the $3 as an excuse to do so. It's okay to not agree to something but why go further and put Norm down for his decision to charge $3. It's like someone walking into Walmart, not liking the price of an item and start yelling about how unfair the mark-up is.

I find it sad that a professional player, someone who I looked up to, respected and learned a great deal from over the years, is sitting on the curb, with tip cup in hand, "whoring" himself out for $3.

Living in Vegas, I frequently walk by a table where almost every day, one of the greatest hitters in the history of major league baseball, Pete Rose, sits selling his autograph. It brings a tear to my eye, each and every time. It's just sad, and that's what I equate what you are doing.

If you want to help and mentor new players, then do so. I myself, take pride in sharing my experiences and helping new players on the sites that I participate on. Just don't sell yourself for $3. That is just beyond sad, Flash. You really are better than that.

While I agree that op's request is bizarre and more hassle than it's worth, I don't think it's as sad as you're making it out to be.

Also, I don't know anything about baseball. Can you explain the Pete rose thing? Is he a degenerate gambler funded by autograph signings?
