• Sands pays $47 million for money-laundering

The case was related to a Chinese businessman, who was at the time the biggest all-cash gambler in the history of the Venetian. The money was tied to the drug trade. I hate when I lose $47 million at the tables.

A friend of a friend was in a LV casino many years ago when he asked for $5K marker but didn't have to sign for it. It happened again with the next marker. He cashed out and didn't have to pick up the markers. He took time off his business did this for about 2 weeks for 6 figures and even called a friend to get in on it. The casino called him in and asked for the money. He figured from the race of others not signing for markers in the pit that new Japanese ownership was removing money from the casino with Japanese players in this manner as a form of skim in this particular pit and he fit the profile so didn't have to sign for his markers. When the casino threatened to call the police he told them if they didn't drop it he would call the police. The incident was forgotten but the gravy train was over.
