    New Jersey is now banning smiling in driver’s license pictures as it screws up their facial recognition software. Will we see more smiles in casinos?

      The rest of the article seems to suggest that facial recognition software is also messed up by hats (no surprise) and glasses (some surprise). Perhaps those of us with contacts should consider keeping frames around?

      Before someone jumps in offering to sell FRS defeating glasses, the FRS software as used in casinos today is NOT a threat.

      I dated a girl from Indiana and she was not allowed to smile in their drivers licenses.

      We needn't worry about Biometrica? Or do they just reserve that for folks like JG whose session wins exceed most of our bankrolls?

      You don't need to worry about Biometrica because the software doesn't work. It might work in some cases if they have a clear straight on closeup of your face in their database, but every surveillance operator I have talked to says they don't even bother using it because it doesn't work. Just another case of some APs who found another way to make money off a casino. Sell them some snake oil.

      I agree with RWM. I got a few minutes of hands on experience with facial recognition software at a technology trade show. They showed me how it works and enabled a mode where it overlaid data points on top of the image. It took only a second to defeat it and create some interesting, and funny results.

      The best FRS in a casino has most likely been in use since the first casino ever opened.
