Have you ever lost any big chips?

I don't mean at the table, I think I may have lost a purple chip. I cashed a purple chip from my inventory when I arrived at the casino. Then at end of session colored up another purple. I have a recollection of both walking with it and also cashing it... not sure which is accurate. Its not in my inventory so my hope is I cashed it. This was a few days ago and the memory is a little distorted. Nothing I can do now except learn a lesson to be more diligent in maintaining my chip inventory.

Don't think I have ever lost a purple, but I know I lost a black chip once. I use to constantly have my hands in my pockets, making sure my high denomination chips were still there. In this case, think I shuffled it out of my pocket while "counting" my chips in my pocket.

So my advice on is to not to do this. For one thing, it increases the chance of a chip coming out of your pocket. For another, what are you going to do if you are missing one? A couple other things that will help are deep pockets, keeping a reasonable # of chips in your accessible pockets (not too many), and making trips to the bathroom to "get situated" as needed.

I usually put big chips in my wallet when i go to the bathroom and then put my wallet in a button closed pocket.. but unfortunately they are usually black not purple chips.

I don't think I ever lost any but once I didn't have what I thought I should however I wasn't certain. I know someone that dropped a $5000 chip and even with the pits help looking for it did not recover it. My wife found a purple chip ($500) many years ago.

Yes, I have lost several "purple" chips and more.........it was called divorce.

Truthfully, it sounds like you just weren't sure. It's a lot easier keeping track of the bigger chips, so coloring up isn't always a bad thing.......especially if you have ratholed a couple. I like to keep the chips in one pocket; not with other things so that you DON'T have a chance of losing them. But since it was just one and you aren't sure...........

Still cheap at twice the price.

My jeans have a "watch pocket" (condom pocket, coin pocket, ring pocket) - the big chips go there. Jeans may not be classy, but I don't need to look classy on my bankroll.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I've found blacks greens and purples. Always in the baccarat room; why's that?

You could try going back to the casino and telling them you think you lost a purple chip. Someone may have found it and turned it in. I was at a casino one time and overheard a player at another table who lost a purple chip. They called security or surveillance, I don't remember which, but another patron had found the chip and turned it in and it was returned to the player. In my state it is a felony to pick up even a nickel off the floor of a casino, so it's possible that if you lost it in the casino someone may have found it and if they did find it and told the casino, they would have tape of you losing it and it could be returned.

Unfortunately yes. Dropped a $1K chip once on the ground at the Tower Suites valet at Wynn in Las Vegas never to seen or heard from again. Fortunately, not too many incidents like that, but I'm sure I've dropped a black chip or green chip on the ground on a few occasions and not noticed it, inevitable in 14 years of fulltime play.

Mine was a purple chip. It may have been the first purple chip I ever had. I was a red chip player at the time....a very low level red chip player even, spreading $5-$30 or $40 at the very beginning of my career. $500 was in the neighborhood of 10% of my underfunded bankroll, so it hurt plenty! I think I colored in at $600, maybe $700, which was a huge win for me at the time. I move to a new table and bought in for the black, with the purple safely tucked in my front pocket, next to my wallet. Then I ordered a bottle of water and when I reached for my wallet for a buck tip, I suspect the purple gently tumbled out onto the carpet. Being a man of simple tastes and means, that $500 bottle of water was probably the most expensive drink I have ever had.

I often wondered how long the chip lasted on the floor. I'll bet someone saw the whole thing and scooped it up before it had even settled.
