I know the topic has sort of shifted but my two cents: I met many people who attended the 3k workshop, and while 3k seemed to be a stretch price-wise, the end result was that many newer players gained confidence in their game and were able to succeed going forward. Perhaps the price-tag of 3k can be regarded more as a motivation factor. If someone with barely a 10k roll is going to invest a third of it, they might as well try their hardest to absorb everything being taught. It's a similar idea when reviewing expensive shoes like yeezy's, no one would buy or covet them if they didn't have the hefty price tag of US300. Alas I can never know for sure anyone's reason for spending their money, but I like many who have posted before, learned everything from inexpensive books written by the pro's of yesterday, and can't recommend a better method of learning the craft.

I taught myself - everything. I had other money for a bankroll, but I knew my wife wouldnt approve. I started my bankroll from someone who repaid me $600. That was November 2007. I had to pump in another $400 or so, the following April or May. I think I’ve done pretty well.

I read books, participated in forums, practiced deck estimation and shuffletracking at home. I networked. I was motivated. I am successful, because I want to be. I did it all by listening, and playing - a lot. I could say a lot more, but the only thing I will say for now - there are those that join that you know will be successful, and there are those whom you know will not be.

Bosox, I wonder why I’m wasting my time responding to you but since I don’t have anything better to do right now why not? I use 18 indices quite a bit and then another 18 more sparingly so that makes 36 indices. That’s quite a few, but it still means I don’t use many that I know. I know highly negative indices but since I wong out at these counts, I don’t use many of these. I also don’t use many positive ones, like indices for splitting 10s and doubling soft 20s since I care about longevity.

I’m not in the BJA camp where I just blast away with no playing or betting cover. I actually like to be able to keep playing at my local casinos. Btw, I just re-listened to the Joe GMAE podcast, and he got backed off at over 300 casinos and trespassed at over 40, and at several of these casinos he got backed off 2, 3 and 4 times.

That’s not my game so I don’t need to spend $3K to learn how to do this at a bootcamp. And that’s not what I teach the newbees under my wing. My philosophy is very different than the BJA group. I teach newbees the game, to respect the casino, to tip and to play within casino tolerance. And I don’t charge them a dime...in fact, many times I buy them meals.

Btw, when I wrote my post I was pretty sure you’d go through it with a fine tooth comb and nitpick some small detail and try to make a big deal about it, because I know you don’t have anything better to do. And it seems to give you a feeling of superiority. I actually was surprised you didn’t respond earlier with some insignificant finding.

It’s good to see you and Freightman are still a tag team, trying to catch someone on something insignificant. In a funny way, I actually feel sorry for you two, especially Frieghtman.

Hey Bosox, we got more in common than I thought. I know Norm doesn’t want us to discuss politics (and I understand why) but I’m definitely in the Fox News camp. I’m a big believer in freedom and personal accountability.

As as far as Frieghtman, I can tell he takes this stuff far too seriously. He needs to lighten up otherwise he’s going to die early from a heart attack.
