I would be horrified. It would mean I have some sort of tell I am unaware of. I would be really interested in how they picked up on my counting in the short period of time I was playing.

My first response would be to ask them what made them think I was able to keep track of all of the cards like Rainman.

I told one guy I am "Not into that illegal shit, man" and told the other I had a "traumatic brain injury and can't remember my last hand never mind memorize every card".

It's all in your bet spread. Spreading to multiple hands it's very easy to spot you. I had one at my table the other day spreading from 1 to 6. Every time I raised my bet so did the counter. I played with the counter for about 1 hour and left the table over $2,500 ahead. The other counter was in the hole when I left.

You mean you are better AP or you are luckier at that session?

Bad luck for him. Good luck for me. Happens all the time win some lose some. He had the skills but luck wasn't on his side.

Maybe his pathetic 1-6 spread contributed to his (otherwise meaningless) bad session result.

If you count and you can't identify another counter.......you need to pay attention more. I see many 'want a be' counters, but they don't have the spread and lose the count 2 decks into a 6 deck shoe.

From experience, if someone comes up to me and starts talking about counting, you raise your bets the same as me, blah blah blah. Just look at them and say, what the fuck are you talking about? Then shake your head and walk away. Don't trust anyone in the casino with this kind of counter info.

My first back off happened when a guy spoke with me about my bet spread etc. After we chatted for 10-min, I was approached in the hallway 15-min later by security telling me 'no more BJ for you'. That guy was a casino shill and confirmed me......fucking narc

the only time i saw this older guy and still not 100%(90% plus) sure if he was an AP. He was that good perhaps. He had mild "disguise." All I can say is He is using more than 1 method.

LOL. Please re-read my post and think about your first back off. You will realize that my response would have avoided your situation.
I reject the notion that just because someone is able to count, they will be able to quickly identify a counter who is playing for longevity. Part of staying under the radar is how one handles other counters at the table. Whenever I run across someone who raises their bet the same time I do. I watch to see if it was a fluke. If I think they might know what they are doing...I make sure I can identify them later, then pack up and leave quietly.

A counter, a member of this forum, recent sat down at my table. I would invite him to make general (not specific) comments on the show.

The General questions - did I look like a counter - did I get the spread - did I look natural - was I or was I not robotic to the count - was I natural putting out the big bets - how was comportment translating to how was the act - did I frequently glance at discard tray - was my manner serious or not serious at the table - did my wagers make sense to th3 co7nt - was there inconsistency to my play - would this individual peg me as a counter.

The point is that you don’t need to look like Joe Schmuck counter. Comments should they be made, should be interesting.

The most obvious thing was the lack of a robotic bet ramp. Bets were jumping all around, sometimes with higher bets being played at +3 than at +6 for example. Transitions between bets always seemed natural though. It was more like watching a gambler varying his bets around than a card counter following a ramp, to one who wasn't keeping count themself. As far as mannerism, far from serious. Constantly joking around, making his presence well known. As far as looking at the discard tray, only noticed one a two glances at all, between hands. The act was very smooth. There was a large spread, but the big bets seemed natural coming out.

Last year in CA, I went to sit down to play at a table where one other player was playing multiple hands. When I went to sit down, the player said "he (me) can't play here". I looked at the dealer, and he just shrugged. I figured something was up, and there were other open tables. But later on I spotted the guy and confronted him. "WTF was that all about"? I asked him. He told me he saw me there two weeks ago and he knew I was counting. He then said "we can't have two of us at the same table."
