suicyco maniac: Question for the masters

One of my close friends was playing the other day and the dealer made an error (forgot to deal to a spot). The floor gave everyone the chance to pull back their bets or play. My friend had 8,5 vs the dealers 5. The count was plus 9 UBZ2. He stayed in.....was this the right play or not??? Thanks for any help SM

    Norm Wattenberger: Afraid not

According to my calcs, at six decks, you'll need a UBZ2 count of better than +30 for a dealer bust probability of 50% with a dealer 5.

He should have pulled back his bets. The reason is that 13v5 is a negative expectation play which becomes positive at very high counts.
As Norm has said standing is positive at +30 (assuming IRC = -24, 6D, 5/6).

    Hope this helps.

    Sincerely,
    Cacarulo

    suicyco maniac: thanks a lot

I was thinking it was wrong but didn't know how high it had to be. If only we could bring the masters to the table with us....or would that violate the device laws???? SM

John Lewis: one hell of a site

When you ask a question on this site you get your answer, and you get it straight from the "masters." Your question (maniac) was answered by two experts in less than 4 hours!

A few weeks ago a poster on this site said he had never used another site because he had never asked a question here that wasn't satisfactorily answered. I believe it.

suicyco maniac: only one question unanswered

A while back I posted a question on 3 card poker and never recieved an answer. Other then that all of my questions have been answered very quickly and very clearly. SM

I?m not quite sure, if your fellow compatriots realize exactly the golden opportunity that means, having among us one of the four best living BJ experts of the World.

In 1994, after almost seven years struggling with the intricacies of our game, convinced by the time that there was no hope for the solo player, that only team efforts seemed the way to attack the steely like Euro- shoe, as being pointed by Ken numerous times, I read in a book a statement, which turned to be the best advice I?ve received ever.

Fluctuations are inherent in the game. Precise and careful money management protects
the average guy from the wipeout that Kenny describes. The game can be beaten and fluctuations can be overcome
    .

Ten years after, this average guy, wouldn?t be posting here, without the aid of this ?optimistic? New Yorker. A matter of faith, which proved to be correct.

    My indebted thanks, Don!

    Sincerely

    Z

Sounds like a great "blurb"/"sound byte" to me. :-)

... I'm guessing that you had Thorp, Wong, and Snyder in mind for the other three. Is that correct?
