    Hollywood: Question for the room?

Every so often I like getting feedback on this question, which seems to be a matter of opinion.

What is the stop gap that many of you have when you are losing?

For instance, I usually like changing tables after i'm down 30 units.

I would like to hear what preference some of you have.

Also how much cash (in units) do you take out of your pockets when starting to play?

For instance as a hundred dollar player, I like starting with 25 units in front of me.

I would like to know what the rest of your are doing.

    Regards,

    Hollywood

What does the TABLE have to do with it? If you had written, "I like to take a break," or "I stop and move on to another casino," after you lose 30 units, fine. But, when you start talking about changing tables (changing your luck?), I begin to worry.

    10 starting units.

I use less. I try not to show them too much money, if I don't have to.

    Nothing to do with luck.

The change could be tables or casino's.

Don't you have a point when you say to yourself a change is in order? Other then when the conditions change?

Perhaps it's after you just lost every hand when you had the count? I don't know, because everyone is different.

Call it what you want, but I don't think anyone just sits there consistently taking a beating.

I'm always curious about what people do when they are getting killed at a table.

For me it's a 30 unit flat bet loss.

Unless i'm sitting at a table with better pen then the rest.
If i'm getting exceptional pen I will camp out at a table regardless of what is happening.

People have strange habits when it comes to losing.

I was just curious about what some of those habits are.

I have no opinions and play the math.
But there are times a change is in order.

    No, never.

    No, no, no.

You sit where the conditions are best. What does taking a beating have to do with anything? By changing, you're going to get rid of the beating? Silly, no? Again, if you can't play properly, because you're emotionally upset with losing, then you should leave -- but not to change tables.

    They suffer, of course! :-)

    > For me it's a 30 unit flat bet loss.
    Fine.

    Already, better.

To me, those two sentences are contradictory in nature.

I just keep on playing if the game remains good. I used to tell family members the results of my trips. If I said I lost 10k some of the responses will be something like "well why didn't you stop?" Sometimes it difficult to explain this to those who don't really understand. If I'm really pressed to state a figure, I lie if I've lost a large amount. Same when I'm winning. Used to, if I talked to a family member when I was winning I usually got "Well you better stop if you're ahead 10k". Now, I refuse to give family members an exact number when on a trip because they don't really get it.

    > For instance, I usually like changing tables

No reason to change unless it's for emotional reasons if you're getting a good game. I once lost 5k in about 1.5 hours spreading greens 1-6 in an excellent DD game. Frustrating as hell, but I played on.

    > Also how much cash (in units) do you take
    > out of your pockets when starting to play?

I usually start somewhere between 2 and 20 units. Sometimes less as it can be a good thing to be seen digging for more money.

Hollywood, I have to agree with you. But changing casinos is more like it. It may not change the math, but it sure changes the scenery, and also provides some fresh air. And after a good thumping I'm ready for a change of scenery and some fresh air.
