Wildcard: oh, the things you see on a BJ table!

A recent trip to Tunica nicely rounded out my BJ gaming experience in the "unusual" department.

Playing DD, and hoping to recoup some losses...second deal, guy next to me gets 10-10 dealer has a 6 up. He has $90 on the spot. Well, he splits the 10s, not once, 3 times. Included in this was a 21, which he advised the dealer early on, that if he got an Ace he was going to double...he did.

Dealer busts. I make the mistake of saying something like "nice hit", "enjoy the moment, that won't happen often". He responds with "nothing excites me, ask the pit boss"...boy, that's what I'll be sure to do!

He actually calls over the pit boss while the dealer is paying off his flood of 3 green, 3 red. Guy comes over with a smile, and Mr. BJ says..."Hey (name), tell this guy nothing excites me". I try to implode, but nowhere to hide.

Immediately after the play, this guy is making light chatter with the dealer. It goes into his Santa Claus hat, and he says to her "do you want me to get my hat"...sure guy, she just can't wait.

Well, he disappears for about 10 minutes, and sure enough, here comes Santa!

I've seen a natural hit (dealer actually dealt a card - Caesar's Tahoe), I've caught 4 aces in SD in Wendover, NV, saw a double down on a hard 19, a guy split 3s into the dealer's Ace while betting purple, but Tunica filled in nicely.

I had never seen 10s split, nor had I seen anyone double on an Ace-10.

Overall, it was an enjoyable trip with the T-man as he posted earlier. Cruising home in the T-mobile with the tops off and the mufflers humming reminded me of my Corvette days...can we say Cherry Bomb mufflers, Holley carb, Edelbrock manifold, 4-speed, T-tops, and 350 horsepower?

And the Index number for splitting 10's is TC +5.Just how high was the count? I think you witnessed one of the greatest cover acts you'll see.

I honestly don't recall the count, but it was the second deal after the shuffle. I recall a 19 before it got to him, I stood with a 17...not indicative of a +5.

The first hands after the shuffle did not contain a high number of low cards. This guy was way too friendly with the pit...besides, I doubt he'd get much mileage out of the Santa hat.

It was a thing to behold, he pulled it off like he knew it was going to go his way. That he called the pit over to talk to me was like announcing his play...not very wise. Hey, he had a good time with it, I just stood there and watched in amazement.

Tunica was the place where a fellow player wanted me to stand on a hard 10 because i would take the dealers bust card!

    Even the dealer was stunned!
