serge b: House Advantage + Changes to BS?
Hey fellas,
Just wondering if someone could tell me what the house advantage is for this type of game and also if BS needs to be changed...
6 Deck, 1.5 - 2.0 Penetration, H17, DOA, DAS EXCEPT for aces... You can split aces but you only get one card on each.
There is also the fact that Canadian Casino's check for all Blackjacks before the players play their hands. If a dealer is showing an ace he will propose insurance then check his hand. If he has a blackjack, he reveals it right away. If a dealer is showing a 10 he will simply check his hole card and reveal a blackjack if he has it.
What kind of edge does this give us?
Also, if i have 10 or 11 vs an ace, and I know the dealer doesn't have 21, I assume the right play is to double down?
Ive checked the archives to find an answer to this question but didn't find anything. Sorry if this issue has already been discussed.
Thanks

I think the house advantage is .63%. Kind of a typical poor game with h-17 and no late surrender.

The insurance and pen issues have no effect on BS.

Is a pretty good site for basic strategy tables although it doesn't seem Ken has updated the 8,8 vs 10 BBO splits or the 16,10 surrender/stand strategies - neither of which seem to be relevant to the rules you posted.

serge b,
Click the link below to download Eric Farmer's excellent Blackjack Basic Strategy calculator. Plug in the house rules, and not only will it tell you the exact BS EV, it will also produce a table of the optimum basic strategy for the game.
Best of all, it is free!
I ran your game, and found an EV of -0.622208901%. Also, against an Ace it recommends doubling if you have 11, but just hitting if you have 10.
