Victor Francis: Strange Play I saw

I saw a guy double down on A-9. This was a 6 deck shoe. Does this make sense in any counting method? He was occasionally spreading to 2 hands. Also at one point he bet a dollar on everyone's hand for the dealer. He seemed to be doing well but I saw a small sample of play and have no idea how good he was really doing.

Doubling A-9 (vs. 6) makes perfect sense, if the count is up around Hi-lo TC +4 or more. However, like splitting tens, nobody does it except idiots and card counters, so it can draw heat. Perhaps the bets for the dealer were an attempt at cover.

Not in the Illustrious 18 Indices but is the proper play depending on the count and the dealer up card.

If he had mentioned that the guy was incredibly handsome, then I would be sure he had spotted me.
