    Kellen: Books to start with

Hey, I'm a new player and would like some people to recommend some books to study. I am just overwhelmed with the various books out there and interested in starting to count, using the Hi lo system. Let me know

Rather than repeat myself, I'll just direct you to the post I made a few days ago. Link below.

If you're using Hi-lo, Professional Blackjack by Stanford Wong is a must-have. This is the definitive reference work on that counting system.

Franz Joseph: Re: Books to start with

Arnold Snyder's Black Belt in Blackjack
Don Schlesinger's Blackjack Attack - advanced book
Peter Griffin's The Theory of Blackjack - advanced book, has great table for basic strategy for various numbers of decks
Ed Thorp's Beat the Dealer - outmoded, but this first book with a counting system is still valuable
Allan Wilson's The Casino Gambler's Guide - see comments on Thorp's book

Lawrence Revere's Playing Blackjack as a Business
outmoded, some incorrect advice, e.g. not to play at a table with bad players, and hatchet job on Hi-Opt systems
Lance Humble's and Carl Cooper's The World's Greatest Blackjack Book - Presents Hi-Opt I, which is NOT a betting system, notwithstanding the cover, humorous anectdotes, grossly overstates cheating, some bad advice, e.g. not to play against tough-looking dealers-this is blackjack, not extreme fighting
Ken Uston's Million Dollar Blackjack - Ignore his relative comparison of books by Stanford Wong and books by Stanley Roberts.
Stanford Wong's Basic Blackjack - basic strategy only, and for multi deck games with every different currently available rule variation except Spanish 21, which is not a good game.

Stay away from books by John Patrick, Jerry Paterson or John Scarne, and, from any book with an incorrect basic strategy.
