    chris: Newbie ???'s

    Hello all,
1st off thanks in advance for any help provided. I recentely got very interested in BJ after getting lucky in AC. I've read KO BJ cover to cover twicw now and have been practicing counting for about 5 days. My questions concern my next trip to AC in late february and the hope of implementing what I have learned for the 1st time.

    1) I've got a one deck count down to about 25 seconds. Is that reasonable?

    2) How does it work in a casino atmosphere? Meaning, do you guys count every card as it comes out or wait until the initial 2 cards are dealt to everyone at the table?

    3) I am assuming I will make mistakes my 1st time. Is this typically the case and how long does it usually take to get it down in a casino atmosphere?

Hopefully with a full month of constant practice and patience I will be ready. Any other advice will be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks so much for all the great info,
    Chris

    Yes.

There is no single correct way to do it. That being said, I think it is safe to say that the majority of players wait until both cards have been dealt. That way, you can look for pairs that cancel each other out, speeding up the process.

Most likely. Don't be surprised (or disappointed) if you fall flat on your face the first time out, completely losing the count after the first round or two. It happens.

It is difficult to say how long it will take you to become proficient, as this varies greatly from one individual to another.

Increase your speed by going through the deck two cards at a time, then three, then four. The idea, as mentioned above, is to look for pairs that cancel each other out.

Don't worry much about winning or losing your first few times out. Just concentrate on learning to keep the count in the casino environment.

    Oh, yeah . . . and have fun! :-)
