I just want to know something.. Do these ever happen to advantage players:
1) Play several hands in a row where the dealer can only manage to show a 10 or 9 up, then draw to 18 or 19 while you make 17's?
2) Get beat on your 19's and 20's and push on 21's?
3)Place your top bets, dealer shows a 6 up, you have a rare 20 ( after busting on several stiffs in a row), dealer then proceeds to make a 6-card 21!
Just wondering if these EVER happen to anybody other than ME.

All the time.
Just wondering re: your question number 3. How do you decide to bet 'big' or not? I think you called it pressing your bet earlier. Are you referring to BS doubles and splits or something else?

4)Win your small bets in negative counts, lose big bets in positive counts.

Simply put, If I have won several hands in a row, chipping up in the process, maybe getting to four or five units, feeling good about finally getting ahead in the session, including getting my splits and doubles, then dealer pulls out some magic.(I added a #4 to my previous post)

it happens and this is when you must put all your skillz into play!
As I have said it is a war where you put your money on the line and sometimes your reputation. It can be tough as hell. But ya, IT HAPPENS. It is worse for the counter when you are spreading big and getting manure and you know the score.
You just must learn to overcome by calling upon all your knowledge and keeping cool, unless your act is to do otherwise.

Shuffle,
This stuff even happens to counters when the count calls for max bets. You know you have the advantage and there are a lot more 10's in the shoe but it seems that sometimes it just falls the wrong way.
I've learned to trust the math and just be patient. I no longer doubt my abilities after 3 positive years of play.
As far as your results, who knows. With only BS you had no idea of your advantage or disadvantage. The cards just fall as they are going to fall. The best you can do is to find the best game that you can and hope you are on the positive side of the standard deviation. If you play long enough though, the math says you will end up negative in the long run with just BS.
