casinoq: before patriot act in cashing out
if i'm correct, the patriot act following 9/11 made it so you have to show id and have a ctr done on you for cashing out $10000 or more in 24hour period. if this is correct, i was wondering if before this patriot act, could you just cash out any amount, even 90 thousand or more with no questions asked?

If memory serves, the purpose of the CTR was to combat money laundering by organized crime. The legislation requiring it was passed in the mid-80's, pre-dating the Patriot Act by many years. Prior to that, cash transactions were pretty much unregulated.
