21forme: What is the real advantge of a 6D game over an 8D game?
A counter friend of mine and I were recently discussing our preferred AC games. He doesn't mind 8D games, doing a lot of sitting out hands, taking phone calls, etc. I prefer 6D games, my supposition is they go into plus counts much more frequently.
Granted, the BS edge of a 6D game is only 0.03% compared with a 8D game, are there any numbers showing the "real" advantage to a counter? If someone can provide numbers or a sim, assume standard AC rules. Thanks.

Norm Wattenberger: No problem
Mostly depends on penetration. Just plug in the numbers at the below link and look at the SCOREs:

Thanks, Norm. That is helpful. One more "for instance..."
Suppose you're backcounting and plan to wong in at TC=1.5, however, if that point is not reached by the time 2 decks are dealt, is there a way to calculate what percentage of the shoes counted you'll be playing?

On second read, this doesn't quite make sense. Let's try again...
Suppose you're backcounting and plan to wong in at
TC=1.5, however, if that point is not reached by the
time 2 decks are dealt, you move on to another shoe.
Is there a way to calculate what percentage of the shoes counted you'll be playing?

Have you read the Optimal Departure chapter of BJA3? It might help answer some of your questions.

Not recently, but I just pulled the book off the shelf and marked the spot. I'm currently reading Grosjean's Beyond Counting, and I'll reread this section of BJA3 next. Thanks Don!

Wylie: In addition
to re-reading BJA3, you really need to get a simulator.
CVData is by far the easiest to use and has great support. I can't imagine playing blackjack without being able to answer my own questions regarding the math. I'm not educated in mathematics, but the CVData is able to give me answers to almost any question I have.

for me there is no difference if the penetration is good; also if the count becomes positive early i have noted that you will have more positive hands whit a 8 deck shoe before the end of the shoe than whit a 6-deck shoe; so the pleasure or the pain are longer
