Security guards at Resorts Atlantic City in New Jersey detained Nyree Thompson, 32, and her son, Qualeem Thompson, 0, at the casino at 9:32 a.m. Security Chief Lance Bigelow stated that his guards took action, ?Because, clearly, the boy was not old enough to be in our casino. Resorts prides itself on its zero-tolerance policy on underage gambling.?

Although it is not clear from surveillance video whether or not Qualeem was actively engaged in gambling, Bigelow decided to detain the duo pending further investigation.

Atlantic City police arrived at 9:38 a.m. and took the pair into custody. Captain Michael Wilson stated that Qualeem Thompson was being charged with underage gambling, while his mother, Nyree Thompson, was being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Security Chief Bigelow is still trying to determine how the youngster was allowed to enter the casino. ?We reviewed the surveillance video of the entrances and determined that Nyree Thompson entered at 8:25 a.m. At that time, she was not carrying the boy, nor did she have a stroller, but we did observe that she had a suspicious bulge beneath her dress. We suspect she was hiding the child under her dress so that she could smuggle him into the casino.?

Based on this information, Steve Callender, vice president of operations at Resorts, stated, ?In order to enforce our zero-tolerance policy towards underage gambling, Resorts will shortly implement a policy of strip-searching all patrons entering the casino to prevent any recurrence of such an incident.?
