First up is Fortune's Formula: The Untold Story of the Scientific Betting System That Beat the Casinos and Wall Street by William Poundstone. I think it can best be summed up using part of an e-mail I got from Don Schlesinger: [I]f ever in the whole history of books there was one that seems to be written personally for me (!), what with BJ, Ed Thorp, the Kelly Criterion, Black-Scholes model, and Wall Street, this is it!!! Too good to be true.

Next, is a book I am chomping at the bit to read ? The Magician and the Cardsharp: The Search for America's Greatest Sleight-of-Hand Artist by Karl Johnson. This is the biography of Dai Vernon, n? David Verner (1894?1992) and Vernon?s quest to find the man who perfected the art of dealing from the center of the deck, Allen Kennedy (1865?1961), a cardsharp who plied his trade with loaded dice and deceitful deck handling.

Finally, for all you tournament players, there's finally another book to read besides Wong's! Don't get me wrong, Casino Tournament Strategy is a must-read, but I think you'll also enjoy 2005 World Series of Blackjack champion Ken Einiger's Play to Win: A World Champion's Guide to Winning Blackjack Tournaments.

The first 2 books are still en route to our warehouse and I'll have them in about a week. I look forward to reading any reviews or comments you may have.

Thanks,
Bettie
