I can't really separate it out accurately. My playing time and general life are all muddled together. Sometimes, I will head out to a sportsbook just to watch my Phillies play and end up playing some games that I walk by. Sometimes I head out with the intent only to eat breakfast or dinner and end up playing hundreds of hands (which is what I actually track). I might be going to Walmart to go shopping for something, but end up playing a session and some coupons right next door at Longhorn Casino. My life and career is a big muddled mess. But I can safely say I put in too many hours.
Question for paymypush? You don't do drills, sims, or any kind of practice or you just don't count the time? I play between 1500 and 2000 hands most weeks and still flip through flashcards a couple times a week as well as practice both on the computer and dealing hands at my table.
I don't practice at all. I can't remember the last time I counted down a deck or dealt cards at home. I've been playing blackjack successfully since the early 70s but my wife is retired now and we have other interests outside of loud, smokey casinos. I've even gone back to Hi-Lo so I can enjoy the game by socializing more.
My mind is sharp and whatever I've given up by not practicing and switching to a weaker count is negligible or at least not apparent to me. Speaking of Hi-Lo, I've always considered it an excellent overall choice that I can perform very well even under the most adverse conditions.
