Battery: The trend at the Horseshoe has been reversed
This is a reply to a message posted a month or so ago. Sorry, I have searched for it in every possible topic without success.
Someone recently expressed great disappointment on finding mostly shoe games at the Horseshoe and that the $5 tables were available only in the morning. I believed him as I had seen the start of that trend on my last visit in March.
Thankfully, the trip I just returned home from found the opposite. When I arrived Sunday afternoon there were 13 $5 single deck tables as the overflow area was in use. During the week that number starts out at around four or five tables in the morning and increases to ten or twelve by evening. The $5 tables go to $10 starting around 7:00 P.M. On Monday and Tuesday there was still one $5 table available after 10:00 P.M. The handicapped table and two others were the only shoe games I saw during the entire visit.
Other notes:
The 'Shoe now has a lefthanded dealer. She is a pleasant young lady who deals conventionally but makes her payoffs starting at first base instead of third. Getting used to that only took a hand or two. She said it drove security crazy for a while but they finally adjusted to it.
Tuesday afternoon two of the BJ dealers got into a fairly serious fight. It did not happen in the pit area but a lot of security hauled them both into that little Baccarat alcove opposite the cashier cage for "interviews". I was playing at the table right by where they were. One of the dealers was injured to the point that the paramedics were called. Our veteran dealer thought he heard the guy had a broken arm.
Has that large painting that has been hanging very crookedly in the coffee shop bothered anyone else? I finally walked up into the smoking area and tried to straighten it. Unfortunately it is so big one person cannot do it alone.
Lastly, it is certainly disappointing to have the count go to +8 only to see your dealer tapped on the shoulder by her relief.

Like whay was this dealer saying?
In an experience I once had playing single-deck years ago, I got a soft nineteen and the dealer had a 6 up, so I doubled. This was on graveyard and I was the only player at he table. The dealer said to the floorperson, "Al (or whatever his name was) we have a counter". I've never been able to figure out a goo response to that... I didn't say anything and left th table after a few more hands.

"Pshaw! Counting DOESN'T WORK! That whole thing is a casino scam for the suckers. I use a reverse-polarian Progression system. You see the problem with most progressions is you change your bet size to size too slowly. In reverse-polarian you go from <1-unit> to <20-units> back to <10-units> to either <5-units> or <1-unit>. Plus you must double-down on every opportunity where you have more than 5-units out. It's all very clear in this book you must read: Blackjack for Bozos. Blah blah blah blah blah blah...."
Nothing more annoying than an idiot who thinks he knows everything.

I like that, I've thought of using something like that if I was ever asked why I didn't hit something this time whereas I did earlier etc.
You can always throw out some b.s. "with the system I play I never hit sixteen if I've already had two, and the day of the week is Wednesday."
