    Mikeh: Thailand

Got a couple of days in Bangkok next week and was wondering what the blackjack scene was like there? Any one able to give me any tips? Also, is it the kind of place where card counters find themselves spitting their teeth out in a back alley?

    Grateful for any comments.

Ah, really? Okay, well thats helpful.

Is Thailand a "dry" country when it comes to Blackjack? No games anywhere?

    Thanks

    Trapper: Poipet casinos

Poipet is in Cambodia but it has several casinos that have been built mainly for the Thai market (where gambling is prohibited). Poipet is on the Thai border about 3 hours from Bangkok. I haven't been there and have no specific knowledge. There is a link to Casino City site below. If you are interested you may want to double check the current conditions because there is a lot of tension between the two countries.

You can try Poipet's Tropicana Casino, ES10, D9 but D3, bad penetration but playable. The casino will send a van for customers who buy 100K Thai Bahts junket chips, you can get room buying 20,000 or 30,000 Bahts a day.

Poipetplayer: Re: How big a BR you bring with you?

Few years ago 3 Japanese CCs took $500K to Poioet, won $260K in 5 days from one casino. The casino paid. They went to play another Poipet casino, won $300K in a week. The casino paid. They left with all money and lived happily everafter...

I was there a while (2003) but cannot say it ranks high on the list of places to go... You will certainly get comped a room, meals and transport against quite low playthrough, but prices are low anyway... Games were not great. Baccarat is the game, BJ tables are few.

Koh Kong (also on the border, down south) has a casino, they washed every shuffle... (no, no good rules).

In both places I saw only Thais, some East Asians. If you do not speak Thai you may find it a touch difficult at times, not many English speakers around.

sincasinoraider: don't waste time in Poipet casinos

don't waste time playing b.j in poipet casinos.
the table limits are small(max 2000baht=USD$50).
They are very paranoid against A.Ps. You play awhile they think u are A.p, they ban u.
