Carlos Dumbfounded: Moskva Nights
The best playing conditions in the world are now in Moscow.
As to security: No problemo. The security guards at the casinons are numerous, serious looking, and appear to me to be probably ex-KBB men who need the work.

Wrong about the games?
Wrong about security conditions?
Both?

There are better games... : )
I think the security is OK at better joints though some times they are used to stop you from going in including cash your chips... the polices worry me much though...

31st March 2004. BJTraveller wrote on this board:
National Casino of Moscow also asked his friend to retrun the win or get one or two broken legs... ask him for other Moscow casinos that refused to cash him and his friends' chips.
I prefer not to add a couple of horror stories, from reliable native sources, that are inside my mind.
It takes a certain degree of naivet?, to make the assumption, that casinos inside Ukraine, Russia, etc., are safe places to show your action.
Just my opinion

BJTraveller: Agree to the disagrees
My friend, who won over $500k in several weeks from Moscow, deserved some counter measures. For those who play smaller like myself, winning only $20k a month from Mosocw, and know which casinos to avoid... Moscow is still playable...: )

ilya: 2 Moscow stories +
1. My ploppy friend won $3500 in Imperia in 2003 and his car was stopped by "road police". He was searched and all his money was taken. They definitely new how much he had. He hid money very well but they found everything in socks, in cloth, in ass etc. He told me this story himself
2. At summer this year 3 ploppies (businessmen) had a good party in one big casino in Moscow, won couple of thousands each. They took casino's car...and after short time was stopped by "policemen". Policemen demand passports and started to ask: visa? no visa? Eventually they took 2000 from each person and let them go. All visa, registration regulation, of course, were OK.
3. Moscow police is most dangerous banditts because nobody can protect you. I don't know how to translate to English "BESPREDEL" - something like unlimited crime. One of stories from Russian TV:
In one big airport policemen took passports from EACH non Russian passangers and kept it unless the victim will pay $35 - passport release fee. They done thousands of $$$ per day.
Moscow is playable. Of course. Play and avoid local policemen etc. But if you win money casino staff or other players can spot you, call to friends to treat you properly. It will be difficult to escape. Good rules in Moscow are well compensated by bad safety.

ara: Do you want to terrify players?
In any third-world country there are horror stories, but they are not the normal case. My guess: Players shall be terrified in order to protect the games against counter attacks.

BJTraveller: Re: Do you want to terrify players?
I agree that Moscow police is a BIG problem though myself and friends had never came across problem with police with proper documents. Luckily I was barred by better Moscow casinos thus no longer have to worry about it. High risk high return, as long as our fellow Aps know the risk and return involved... I was robbed by Gypsies many years ago inside Metro Station of Cosmos Hotel. I saw little Gypsies for recent trip, perhpas they had been eliminated from Moscow?

Mr. Pro: Re: 2 Moscow stories +
Hi there,
I was in Moscow for three weeks in September. I got barred from the Golden Palace casino and I still had 8.5K worth of their chips in my hotel room. I went back the next day and they did allow me to cash them in but in some of the smaller clubs I think you'd have a problem.
As far as police were concerned I never had any problems coming out of a casino. But coming out of a well known bar a car I'd taken was stopped and my documents checked they wanted a 1000 USD each saying my registration wasn't in order. Luckily a girl I was with could negotiate with them and I eventually got away with giving them just a 1000 Roubles. I checked my documents back at the hotel and when I'd extended my stay there they hadn't updated my visa so they were in the right as far as my documents were concerened.
MORAL: Always make sure your documents are in order and if you're stopped and they want cash tell them you want to ring your Consulate.
Regards,
Mr Pro
