How do you guys go about estimating rounds per hour at the table? Would it make sense to record # players and penetration for each shoe and then estimate RPH based off those numbers? I would really like to know.
MJ
If I play 3 shoes with two other players at 4.75/6 dealt, I multiply 52 x 4.75=247 (amount of cards played per shoe). Divide that by 2.7 (average cards used per hand)=91 rounds per shoe. 91 rounds per shoe divided by 4 (me, the dealer, two other guys)=22.8 hands for each of us. Multiply that times 3 (shoes)=68.6 (rounds). Then I shake my head, realizing it took an hour and tweny minutes to get 68 hands (an hour of play every two hours) because eveyone likes side bets better than actual blackjack. I play on hoping they will tap out and leave soon, but instead two more people sit down just as the count skyrockets.
"You forgot to multiply by the number of shoes per hour."
No I didn't. I got 22.8 rounds per shoe and multiplied that by 3, which =68.6 rounds. Assuming a blackjack hour is 100 rounds, I didn't get a BJ hour in 3 shoes even though I sat there for over an actual hour of time. Sound right?
That analysis sounds off. playing heads up you get around 8 rounds per deck. That would be 38 rounds per shoe. Assuming you can get relatively quick deals you should be able to get 3-4 shoes per hour (or more!): So that's about 120 to 150 rounds per hour. New players bring this down pretty quickly which is why I usually leave a table/machine if another player sits and especially if said player plays slowly. The thing I would be curious about is how to take wonging into account. My CVData says I play about 49% of the time so is my RPH 50% less? If so does the fact that I play less -EV hands make up for that?
I also want to know this answer and that is why I came here to find my answer and I am glad I found it. I have recently started playing online casino games and that is why I want to know more about it. I used to play online casino games and mostly I played zelle casino games and I always found those sites with the help of casinosanalyzer website link because it is easy to find sites over there and also I can read reviews of those sites. But it is my first time playing casino games on the table and that is why I am gathering information online.

"It doesn't take 20 min to play one shoe"
I may have exaggerated but not by much. With a hand shuffle it often takes 15 minutes or more with other players, each of them often playing both sidebets. Add to that a lazy or chatty dealer and it seems to happen to me pretty frequently.
The bigger question to the OP's point is was my math right? 6 deck game dealt to 4.75 with 2 other players means I'm getting 22.8 rounds per shoe, correct?
"you didn't read page 18, did you?
I did tonight. It certainly doesn't feel like I'm getting 5.62 shoes per hour (or more at 4.75 cut) unless I'm alone or with one other player who is not making sidebets. I believe sidebets slow the game significantly, especially with 4 players, as mentioned on pg 18.
