We have a winner, and yes I have played there. In fact, my biggest one day win occurred there.

Just curious what was the clue that helped the most. St Croix is French for "Holy Cross."

26 miles west from Danbury is the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN.

It doesn't need to be translated to have a religious meaning.

Maybe to a yokel it's a famous river. I never heard of it, other than the Virgin Island.

What! Never heard of "St Croix" other than the Virgin Island. Then you must be the uneducated one. As a professional blackjack player you should be informed on the best blackjack games across the USA. There are actually two St Croix casinos in WI offering blackjack, and no other Wisconsin casino can top the St Croix casino's rules (Check CBJN).

Of course, if you just consider the Midwest fly over country then you wouldn't know these things. I never said the river was one of the most famous rivers in the USA. I said it was quite famous, and as a boundary river between MN and WI it is well known along with its very clean water.

St Croix makes the list of the 10 best casinos in WI.

It may be best for a red chipper, but for most pros best is not defined by rules. I have played in the midwest, but not that area.

No idea what your point is in a 44 year old image.

Look, oddly enough, I do have a life. I really tire of spending so much time removing posts designed to foment division. I just wish that folks here would realize that this forum is about beating casinos. Not beating each other and fostering division in the community. Frankly, I'm sick of it and have better things to do with what years i have left.

It's taking a while, but you're getting closer to coming around!

Don’s Dictums (Just the first three most pertinent to this discussion. But there were 10 in all.)

Don’s Domain has proven to be one of the most successful of all blackjack Web sites, partly because of the manner in which it is run. While you may not agree with all of the policies that have been instituted to ensure the civility and high-class nature of the board, I trust that you will follow our guidelines while you are enjoying the hospitality of your hosts. Participants’ mutual respect is the hallmark of this location.

In no particular order, here is a list of policies, rules, and regulations that will apply to Don’s Domain:

    1. Politeness and civility should be practiced at all times. Disagreement should be tolerated, but rudeness should not.

    2. I am sole judge, jury, and executioner insofar as appropriateness of posts is concerned. Quite simply, for any reason whatsoever, if I don’t want your post to remain on the board, I will delete it. I may provide an explanation for removing it, but I may not. In a word, this is not a democracy, and your ability to post here is a privilege and not a right. As such, that privilege might be revoked at any time. (I trust that this will never happen, but if you should be asked to withdraw from the site, a prorated refund of your subscription fee will be granted.)

    3. Having said this, I fully expect to have to exercise that “authority” only rarely. Please note that, since I originally wrote these words, more than three years ago, I have probably not deleted a dozen posts from these pages. Such is the extent of the camaraderie and politeness displayed here. This has proven to be a wonderful board, filled with interesting discussions and much useful blackjack information. But, you have my ironclad guarantee that this is all the pages are ever going to contain!

Those rules are good ones, but no offense Don's was a long time ago. Forums and the internet in general are quite a bit different now. People do not respect those type of rules as easily as back then. To be fair...I think Norm's job is probably a lot harder now days.

Like I have said from the first time I became a paid member...I wish we could just move all discussions to the paid area. Seems like that would solve a lot of issues.
Hmm I just thought of something...just an idea.
What if only Free members could see only the free area.
And only Paid members could see only the paid area?

I was a member. If it was so successful, where is it now? Viktor closed the site for business reasons, but why wasn't Don's Domain migrated elsewhere? I know Don was initially resistant to forums that supported more than simple text, but he seems to have come around on that issue.

Another consideration nowadays is, unlike back then, BJ math has pretty much all been resolved. How many more "which count is best?" threads do we need? Or how many more reyth threads do we need, where a guy questions accepted methodology, either ignores or doesn't understand the correct responses, and keeps asking the same questions from different angles?

That's my whole point. Not everything from the "good ol' days" was inferior to what we have today. That's why they were called the GOOD ol' days!

And, I'm sure I can't begin to understand the technological challenges of keeping away troublemakers in today's environment. It's why Norm can only do so much without taking up the whole day being a policeman. (Same reason I don't correct every grammatical and spelling mistake I see. It would be all I do all day! )

But, were I to revive the site -- which I definitely will NOT -- I would still have the same rules, only I understand how much more difficult it would be to enforce them.

    Don
