I recently learned REKO-F for DD, but have not implemented it yet. My question is whether or not to expect an additional benefit of cover with some index plays.
It seems logical to me that some of the more unusual index plays, such as hitting 12 v 5 and 12 v 6 among others, could have the added benefit of providing cover. Would it more likely be viewed as a sign of incorrect play rather than mastery? Does the pit or surveillance even care or closely track such things, especially in negative counts where an unusual play might occur?

It's a good question...but impossible to really answer.
It depends on which casino, pit, how often you play, your bet level etc etc.
And hitting those hands will definitely bring the wrath of the ploppies, and in turn will bring attention from the pit etc.
If the casino thinks you are a loser...then yes, those plays might work for cover as you are hoping. But if they are already suspicious about you...then I say tread lightly.
