I play in MO where they cannot back you off. However, as Flash says, the use counter measures. In one casino, soon as I sit down at their double deck game, they cut of 2/3rd and deal just 3-4 rounds. At six deck, they cut off 3 decks and if I am still sitting there it gets worse. Unlike being backed off where they can politely tell you privately (they ask you to step off your chair and while the rest keep playing, they tell you that you cannot play), in states like MO, there is a "shaming" practice. Soon as you sit down, they cut off the penetration and the whole table knows you are whom the casino considers as counting. The ploppies see you as a "cheater".\
Being backed off may be preferable.
