I returned after 6 months but never went back to the Newport Room or the high limit pit in the Fox Tower. Due to my own wonderful experience with the Connecticut State Police running an illegal check on me for them, Foxwoods knows more about me than I probably know about myself. I'm entered into the system when I play there, card or no card, so I do play rated. I'd love to see the entries on my account.
I've been able to spread enough to beat the 8 deck games and, other than the occasional snide remarks, have not been bothered by the pit. These days I usually play at Mohegan Sun. I patiently seek out the few dealers who cut deep. They are on all 3 shifts and it can be a chore. I've left more than a few times without playing.
By the way, the Newport Room is watched like a hawk. I had only spread to 8 units when they said no more.
For good rules with h17, and great pen, beatable with 8-1. I'm not sure how much reduction of deck pen same rules except S17 to make it beatable.
The first question I ask myself in a shoe by shoe basis - what spread do I need to beat, and what spread can I get away with.
The weird Foxwoods backoff was the summer of 2011, shortly after they went to H17. I had been flat and told that I was done for the day before but this time I was banned from one room. I returned in early 2012 and have played unfettered ever since, never entering the Newport Room again. I see almost no heat on the 8 deck games as all the scrutiny is on the high limit rooms. Obsession is probably a better word.
I have been flat bet at Mohegan Sun over the years in two different ways: flat bet one hand at table minimum and an amount of my choosing which must always remain the same. I have developed an act over the years where my wife plays with me. She flat bets while I go to work. Sometimes we reverse rolls. She's a hunch player who chastises me on my not going by the book etc, in a very convincing Academy Award winning act.
She may reach over and grab some of my chips to play the slots, returning to say she lost (ratholing) or she may tell me to slow down and take a break (wong). This has been very successful as we have never been called on either. The ratholing can be substantial which is very important for accumulated wins. I use more than one players card, including one of a person who looks exactly like me. We are often mistaken for twins.
I no longer play full time so I don't mind sharing a little. It's important to keep your sessions short at Mohegan Sun. We are just a normal couple who have to get to the show or meet someone etc. Perfectly natural.
The Connecticut casinos are among the largest in the world but, take it from me, if you are a regular there is no place to hide except in plain sight. At foxwoods I have found that longer sessions are not a problem on the main floor.
PMP, similar to yourself I was also BOed in 2011 from those casinos. First MS then FW followed a bit after that. I know they share info because I had never counted in FW before and my first time coming there after my MS backoff, I was backoffed. I have since been back to both places many times. FW backed me off again recently at a $25 table outside of the Newport room. Perhaps they had recognized me from facial recognition software as I play unrated. I also don’t wong in or out and play a low spread of 1-6 or so. I also use cover plays so I’m almost certain they used facial recognition. I haven’t been back since but I will definitely be back soon.
You are not using any wonging at all, use a 1-6 spread with cover plays, they back you off again, and you will be back soon, why? What is your objective? Sounds like it is being able to play there period, like a hamster running a wheel inside a cage wasting it's time. If you already know they might throw you out again and again at least give them a real reason.
First you need to know that you are not going to be making much money playing those 8 deck games the way you are now. You are not welcome to play there, so stop trying to please them by compromising, as you already proved it is futile. Either way you are going to be asked to leave anyway so if you insist on going back, you might as well give them your best game without holding back anything. Try playing short sessions, hopefully make some money and get out. When playing move around, and do not sit in the same seat to long. I doubt you will get away with it for long but at least you will go down while throwing some real right hand punches.
