On a Thursday night I saw a guy get roughed up for using racial slurs while hollering at big screens with no sound. The ones you think you will be in a battle with are rarely the ones doing the damage. In short, "shut up and enjoy the damn game."
On a Saturday night I saw a guy getting hassled and he was bothering no one. His crime? Trying to stay awake, looking bad, and finding himself in the wrong place. He was wearing dark glasses, a stocking hat, and had a long gray beard. It looked like he was staring directly at a young lady. Then his head and arm would drop. They assumed he was drunk. I figured "what the hell is there to lose"? So I got him a cup of coffee and a glass of water. I took it over and said, "excuse me sir, they are going to throw you out if you're sleeping in here." He lifted up his dark glasses and thanked me. At least that stopped the mockers. I went back and sat down. He drank everything down. But still sat staring into space, not bothering anyone, nor asking for anything.
I went back and ask him if he wanted something to eat. He declined. I ask, "are you sure, no offence, but it looks like maybe you haven't eatin in awhile." He replied, "if you don't mind, I could probably eat a little something." So I went to the deli and brought him back a cup of chicken soup and a bread bowl and some more coffee and water. He was very appreciative, lifted his glasses to look me in the eyes to thank me, and shake my hand. I went back and sat nearby. He sat upright, prayed, put his napkin on his lap, used his silverware, and ate every bite. I sort of wondered when the last time he'd sat at a table and had something to eat. When finished, he put everything in the trash, cleaned his table, came over and thanked me again. I said, stay warm? He assured me he would. The bigger picture is it offered a different point of view to those that were hassling him.
See Bosox. There are all sorts of ways to provide protection.
A bit of topic. But this thread turned into one of a morality issue. I'm not blowing my own horn. Merely offering a perspective of seeing things differently.
No worries. I will delete soon.
