Not all critters are like that - I know some that are just plain nasty, and in some cases, if it can be possible, uglier on the inside than they are on the outside.
What I’ve found is that if you’re willing to have a conversation with the person backing you off, sometimes they’ll give you good info. I’ve asked them how they found me or who flyered me, etc., and I’ve surprisingly gotten some helpful info by taking this approach. Just treat them like a human being and they might be more inclined to share info.
I once had a security guard actually show me a Biometrica BOLO alert that they got from a nearby casino. The dude was a real dick at first, but I was nice to him. I was in a good mood because I had a 5 figure win in short period of time. By the time I finished CTRing, I think everyone cooled down. When they walked me to the door, the guy let me look at the flyer. He wouldn’t allow me to take a photo of it though LOL. But I guess he didn’t have to do that. He also made that comment “go try to play at _______.”
I don’t approach every BO like that, but if the moment seems right, then it can’t hurt. You risk making yourself a little more memorable like this, but there’s nothing you can say to change their mind about backing you off, especially if they happen to find your database profile. But sometimes you’ll get some decent info from them.
