Children in cars while papa is gambling

On a "business" trip, I parked at a venue. I saw a small child in the backseat of the car next to me. I saw another human form. I opened the back door, expecting it to be locked and, surprisingly, it was unlocked. The girl, probably 3 or 4 years old, was with her mother - also in the backseat.

The obvious inference was that the paternal asshole was inside gambling - of course, I had no idea for how long. I reported it to security as soon as I entered the casino.

I saw something like this a few years ago. It's sad. Really don't know how to comment on this, except to say that - regardless of anything, we do have a duty, as responsible people, to bring issues like this up for discussion.

Casinos prey on the poor, and the idiots who all want to "strike it big". My local joint used to charge a fee to cash a check, unless it was a government issued check (SSI). Now they charge a fee for that as well.

I'm not a nanny-state person either, and I believe every grown adult has the right to make their own choices. But I'd liken that to leaving your kid in the car to run inside a drug den and buy your fix. You're exposing a child to casinos, like it's an everyday thing.

Apparently, they pulled the guy out of the joint and told him to go home. I was also told, that if the girl had been alone, police would have been called, charges laid, and the individual would have automatically been barred for life.

I can still remember being left in the car for a couple of hours when I was a little kid. Well, maybe it wasn't that long, but at the time it sure seemed like a long time.

I was probably 6 or 7 years old, maybe even 8, so I really wasn't a child. I was with my Dad and he stopped at this bar, and told me to wait in the car for him. He said he wouldn't be long. Well, I waited and waited. He never came out. I still can remember what bar it was. Finally he comes out. He said he got started in a pool game. Probably had a few drinks too. Funny I never thought of that until this thread.

But your Mom wasn't with you. I got left in the car at the grocery store as my Mom shopped. I am sure I got left in the car often but this one was memorable. I was in no danger as I was old enough to not get roasted in the heat. I would know to roll down a window or something. A lady comes out of the grocery store and panicked or something leaving her foot on the accelerator drove a semi-circle around the parked car driving through every parked car in her path. She was intoxicated. Cars were built like tanks back then but she had no problem destroying the 6 nearest cars to the car I was in at a speed of 10 MPH. She didn't stop until she piled cars up in front of her. I had no trouble entertaining myself but it made the rest of the wait more interesting.

Exactly. Without the mother it was a crime. With the mother the kids are under their parents guidance. I have reported similar things to security and they did nothing. But I didn't address the situation in the car to know the children were supervised.
