I can't believe this thread is still going on and on and on. Sorry to contribute to it.
Opinions and Commentary on the Gaming Industry: The Bear Growls
I agree.
this is a free forum - not a book youve purchased thats made promises as to its merit.
People are so uptight about the silliest things - like theyre somehow OWED posts conforming to their exact expectations.
Yes this is a place where a lions share of the information regarding advantage play can be had FREE OF CHARGE and yes there is a little seperating the wheat from the chaff - but guess what, you cant HAVE wheat without chaff and to extend the metaphor, as many of you know, casino interests monitor these forum, and the chaff serves to protect the wheat as in if someone who is an actual advantage player cant be bothered to read through it all how much less so some idiot pit boss scanning to see if someone is talking about a casino in his area?
This is a forum for human discourse, and as such, is subject to all the chaos, beauty and drama that the qualifier "human" brings with it - to try and distill it down to only dry facts and impersonal statistics in the name of some Aspergian notion of efficiency is both ridiculous and self-defeating. Nobody is deciding on meeting some stranger from the internet to wager money in hostile conditons because their figures were right to the second decimal place. Its how that person seems in real life that either attracts or repels someone - how fun they are, how entertaining it seems to be in their presence, and, to a lesser extent, how much they know about the game. This is what people care about. There are very few numerically based problems software or books cant answer - this is a place for people to interact, sometimes (and i know this is a shocker) just for interactions sake. Advantage play can be a lonely, demoralizing and isolated endeavor that can grind away the spark of who you are when noone gets to see it - and this place can be a lifesaver in a sea of hostile anonymity.
Did I post a lot about myself - yes. Did I try to keep it AP related - of course. Was it everyone's cup of tea - no. But I already have made some friends and gained some invaluable mentorship from it while (whether they would admit it or not) entertaining a few along the way. This is what the forum offers - at its heart its about connection and those connections are worth their weight in gold and connections dont come from a post that has more numbers in it than letters - it comes from getting a feel for who someone is and then interacting with them from that knowledge. Maybe I took the fast track on that - but my motivations were pure and my intent in line with the ethos of this place - to share knowledge and participate in a mutually beneficial community.
All my love - my AP brothers and sisters
Strange things are afoot at the Circle K. I sense a .................collaboration.
Regardless - Desiderata - you are a child of the Universe.
