big dog in charge
This sort of thing is endemic in the Poker demimonde.
A friend (student) of mine has gotten into these crazy gambling scenes
with dodgy dudes (referred to as friends) colluding at the poker table and
taking sports bets in poker rooms. Drug sales and unpaid debts come with
the territory. Drug sales are rampant in poker rooms because the illicit
drug prices are massively inflated, beyond all reason. Winners spend.
Callow youth are prone to ignore warnings from their mentors.
I can get about any action I could imagine at the local poker game, there are bookies who play poker there. Never saw any drugs, but some of the games were held in the conference room at the local "no tell motel" and I assume the hookers could provide drugs if desired.
I've ran into collusion in poker. I've spent some days searching all day for a table that didn't seem fishy. This last trip, I didn't even try to play cash games because of it. I only played some MTT tournaments and spent the rest of my time on blackjack. I don't know about the drug scene, it's not something I'm into, but I imagine it's out there.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that 0 or less of the 1/2 games that u thought were fishy had collusion going on. Especially the "string" of casinos that you thought was fishy. There is 0 chance that vegas has a string of casinos withcollusion happening at 1/2 no limit. Youre just being paranoid, or new to the game. Collusion in poker in actual casinos is very rare, and it woud be happening at a much higher level than 1/2.
If you said u thought that u saw a fishy 10/20 no limit table, i might believe that it mihht actually be fishy. But i still wouldnt even believe that a string of 10/20 games were fishy.
I think I used the wrong term. I just meant I spent a bit trying to find a table that didn't seem to have a few people betting a little strangely which seemed more dependent on how others were betting and less on their cards. It was in a manner I was told to look out for because it means collusion. I am new to poker and I am paranoid, so perhaps you're correct. I'm not the only one with that opinion about those particular tables though. I ran into another poker player elsewhere and he had the same weird feeling about it.
