Some people like to burn places up like 20-to-1. Other people like to milk slowly like moses and Ronster. Many of us fall somewhere in between. There's a place and a person for every style. I don't want to travel great distances, so I play more like moses where I figure out the tolerances and stay within them. Others who like to travel are less worried about being able to return frequently and so they play in a style that fits. This is probably why I have found Laughlan to be profitable, but I typically don't go unless someone else is driving because I never found very good conditions.
You say there are better conditions, so I am inclined to check Laughlan out again, this time with my own transportation. I do appreciate the info on the Trop's DD and I'm tempted to check out the riverside. Can you tell us the rules for the playable SD's in Laughlan? I don't know how to play SD, mostly because I've never come across a good game, but I would like to learn. If I can get the rules to run some sims and memorize some BS that would be wonderful.
What I hate about large spreads, is the inevitable huge swings in your BR. I used to feel as others do on this site that a 1 to 2 spread is ludicrous, but I have found that is not the case, far from it.....The Trop used to have more than one DD, but with the advent of the damn circus games there is now only 1 $10 DD and 1 $25 DD game, no SD. 3:2 bj, Dealer hits s17, Double on any 2, no double after splits, with about 65 to 70 % pen....It's a very beatable game.....The Riverside has about the only SD's, with 3:2 bj, in fact all their games are SD with the exception of a 3 card poker or two....3:2 bj, double 10/11 only, insurance 2:1. Hard to find anything but a full table except for the $25 table, and sometimes it's full. But most times you can light on it heads-up or 1 or 2 players, with decent pen, which makes it a very beat-able game. But I only spread 2 units on it, $25 to @50, and I never get any winning heat because I never stay more than an hour.......And I reiterate, girls sometimes ski naked up and down the river, great fishing, very inexpensive chow and rooms.....what's not to like?
