I owe a trip report, but remember I go there for a mixture of fun and BJ. My table style is to also have fun. I meet my best friend and we never stop having fun. There will be things I must leave out for obvious reasons. We played right away at a 2 deck 25 min. game and the big cards and some Aces came out right away. We lost and quickly left the game since we wanted to play in plus counts as much as possible. this was our 2 deck strategy for all 6 days we played. We kept track of our wins/losses when leaving the table early which we did 14 times. Since high cards came out during this time, it only makes sense we probably won. Overall we DID NOT. We were down early playing 2 deck, 25 min. and 6 deck 10 min. We never had a plus session. We didn’t care. We know variance and it was a short test. We won pretty good before the day was over and were plus 400 so we hit the strip and walked around with a beer.
We ate at Big Al’s Oyster Bar at the Orleans and had many Coronas.
Day 2 we moved around scouting and saw there were now 6/5 games where we played last year at the Trop. We had so much fun there the past 2 years and now it’s over. The tables were mostly empty where last year they were at least half full and buzzing with laughter. The Aria used to have some good games and they are 6/5. MGM had a bunch of 6/5 games. I noticed a lot of tables had nothing written on the felt so I would ask. I wanted to hear them say 6/5. I asked if they had any real BJ games. We did play some 2 deck 25 and 5 min. We spread 1-8 on 25 min. and 1-16 on 5 min. and never had any heat. We always have fun with the dealers and pits while leaving when we should, usually within 25-30 minutes. The 5 min. table we hung around for 2 hours once and drank Coronas and Jameson. +450 and we felt variance got us again.
Day 3 was more of the same and we lost. We played in some good counts and dealer BJs and draws kicked our butt. We review play after every session while moving around and we agreed we did everything right without fear of heat. – 700
Day 4 included one of my favorites El Cortez. No heat for us. I can’t go into our cover, but we can enjoy a moderate win. We also played a station casino and won a little there. +500. We had dinner at Gallagher’s in NYNY and had a beer with Mary.
Day 5 got murdered in 2 ways. We lost with early high cards and left tables. Excuses to leave early during the high negative were easy and we did it with jokes and fun. We lost our small bets, but should have at least won most of them. We got a real good count at a 2 deck 25 min. game and lost some 8 unit bets, 2 were double downs. -900
Day 6 we began losing right away. Finally we got a +11 count in a 2 deck game and figured this was our gift for playing only in good situations. I couldn’t wait to get more chips and lay it in. I was going to push it out there. For 4 straight hands it remained a good plus. 8 units a hand and 2 double downs. 1200 risked and 1200 lost! My buddy lost 400. For all those who might expect a good report I gotta tell you, so did I. we had enough money to go home with a small bank roll, but we lost our first year in 10 years. It was a surprise to us. I have read about variance and didn’t believe it could be such a streak or happen to me. We lost money, but we enjoyed Vegas and had fun. After a ball game we always enjoyed the beers. After we lost a game we had beers anyway and had fun. The beers just taste better after a win.
I hope we get the same opportunities, games and counts next year. There are still good games and great times. Wishing it to all of you.
