    One of the smartest ?
Your sarcasm is a faux pas.
He may have been the very smartest.

I would (almost) never hit 16 vs. 10.
Even at a negative True Count, the lost equity is minuscule.
What did he "lose" on his $10 bet ? Fourteen cents ? 19 cents ?
Thus, the "cover" gained is bought ever so cheaply,
as it is mathematically correct at all "plus" T.C.'s

Thus, the clear majority of the player's funds (for this play)
will be correctly played by standing on all 16 vs. 10.

Any half-smart Pit Critter can see that ordinary poppies will play that
hand, one way or the other. Most who switch plays are strong players.
Of course, with super strong counts, e.g. Tarzan you'd have knowledge of
whether there are more 5's than 6's available for you to draw.
The R.C. can be -5 or +5 and it may or may not be correct to hit.

    .
Considering his spread was $5 "or" $6 dollars, my quarter says no. But I now get the boredom thing of which you speak. I excused myself a couple of times as I noticed they were remodeling an area. I went over and watched the paint dry. Far more exciting.

It was like being cast in a B rated movie with no plot and seemingly no end. But I now know I can maintain two 1/2 point counts through a double deck.

Sims (single deck) suggest this would be the most costly move away from basic strategy. Cover gained? Flash. Have you been overindulging in that special batch of Tarzan's homemade cooking sherry again? I mean you're pounding away at them with an 18 to 1 spread with a steady stream of chips mounting in front of you and you think the EITS gives two craps about whether you stand or hit on 16 vs 10?
