Thread: Any recommended casinos to play in Vegas?

I'm going to LV in early July next year with some poker mates who want to play in the WSOP satellites. I will probably be focussing on my main game as I am better on it. Am happy to hop off-strip, spread will be 10-25/400. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also would be good to know which places have Spanish 21 as I can play with less heat and know the numbers for it.
Recovered from my last disastrous losing streak which put me in Minusland for 13 consecutive sessions. Reached a new ATH last night +9000 for the year after cashback taken into account (technically 55 off ATH on play alone). Pulverized a single shoe at Crown for 1800 the other week, lol.
I.... feel so right doing the Wong thing!!! 9-5! 9-5! 9-5! Every king that screws her makes me feel alive!!

Wow. He had the temerity to bump his bet up to $10!...how dare he?! ;-)

As they say, YMMV. When I was last in Las Vegas, I spread $5-25 at the EC's SD game and didn't get backed off. I played 30-45 minutes.

I know a gambler on a hot streak who got banned at the Sweaty Spaniard. There are definitely games for you to play, just not anywhere near the strip. Some places are only good depending on which dealer you play with. I've never had any heat spreading 20 units on many red chip games out there. Good luck!

are off strip casinos even trustworthy? Ive only been to vegas once and played on the strip. Whats the heat like on off strip casinos? Can they be trusted to give an honest game? Are they monitored by the gaming commission, or are they like the indian reservations?

Off strip casinos are completely fair and owned mostly by public ally traded companies. The only problem you might have is cashing out without showing ID if you play yellow plus stakes but they are probably all better than that piece of trash lion chain on the strip.

Thanks much to all of your helpful replies! My most recent trip to Vegas was 2+ years ago, at which time I did purchase a copy of the CBJN. I was just wondering if there had been considerable changes to the pattern of the conditions across casinos. I don't plan to play on the strip, as usual.

On my last trip, I pretty much played only local casinos in Vegas. I didn't even step foot on the strip until my 4th day there. The local places offer a lot of good DD games at lows stakes, but some of those joints are extremely sweaty, so beware of that.

My max bet is usually 2x$250 (usually spread nothing less than 20:1 on 6D and 8:1 on DD). I found some decent games on the strip, but it took more scouting and my game selection was limited. The strip is only ideal if you're playing higher stakes than this. The games are garbage for red chippers. The strip casinos aren't anymore "trustworthy" than the local ones, so I wouldn't write them off.

    Worse than that !

It is H17 with 8 decks instead of 6

Crucially, there is no re-double permitted.

    The penetration is not friendly.

The House Edge is very high.

I'm not sure why people are saying that there aren't any good low stakes games in Vegas. Maybe they are thinking of "Vegas" as only including the strip?

Go downtown and you will find $5 minimum decent pen 3:2 DD games at several places. Avoid Golden Nugget since they don't allow DAS outside of their high limit room. But El Cortez has a great game for low stakes players. Yes they are sweaty, but the OP said he had a car, so a back-off isn't the end of the world. Just play 30 minutes to an hour. They will usually be kind enough to make it clear that a backoff is imminent, so you can leave without getting the official "tap" if you want.

Any casino owned by Stations is a good bet to also have a good low min DD game, usually $5. A low limit player should have no issues cashing out anon unless they get some REALLY good variance. If you don't know that includes all the places with "Station" in the name, as well as Red Rock, Golden Nugget, and Wild Wild West among others. Just go to the Stations web site for a list of all their Vegas casinos along with addresses, etc.

You can occasionally find a rare lower minimum on a decent strip game, but if you are playing low limits why bother? There are plenty of great games to play off the strip. In a lot of ways it is much easier to find good to great games that you can play anon if you are a lower limit player. The challenge at lower limits is finding enough EV to offset your travel expenses.

It was over 2 decks cut off as well when I last visited. Barely a double digit SCORE with reasonable spreads.

Yep. Downtown is great for red chippers, as are the locals joints. Hell, Vegas is probably the best place is the country for red chippers in terms of conditions.

That said, DD is sweaty, and I recommend not playing rated on DD in Vegas.

hehe, I did play a bit ... of blackjack. Thanks for the suggestion of Red Rock. It was indeed a nice place to play (in terms of rule & condition).
