If you were to take three distinct points like Geographical center of the continental 48 (Lebanon, KS), the Median Line (which cuts through the heart of the continental 48), and the Median Center of Population (just a few miles into Indiana along the aforementioned Median line) and then average the three of them out in terms of distance and population, you'd end up somewhere near St. Louis (MO), Evansville (IN), or Lawrenceburg (IN).
You do something in that geographical area, I'll be there!
Moo, A suggestion to help fit what everyone needs. Have day one or some other portion of the early schedule be fundamentals that more experienced players may choose to skip but are valuable to the less experienced attendees. Then have the more advanced stuf in the later part of the camp that is known to those that would choose to skip stuff that is too basic.
I would probably vote for a Caribbean location, seriously. I know its a lot more traveling expense but then its not in anyone's backyard, have great scenery, we could bring our spouses and they'd have something to do while we're occupied, lots of positives for an island location. If thats not an option, I can think of nothing better than Vegas, baby!
I'm not saying you should stay and play in Lebanon, we'd be more likely to find a start up poker game than a blackjack game anywhere near there lol. What I meant by that is that if you take some of the basic consideration points, like the center of the US (Lebanon, KS) the Median line (basically i70), and the median center of population (just into Indiana at the Illinois/Indiana border) you'd probably be able to grasp the largest audience for a thing like this by putting it somewhere close to or between those points, which is why I mentioned St. Louis, Evansville, and Lawrenceburg as they are "casino" places near those areas of geographical significance.
As for what I really know about the place? I know about the Yellowjackets and Red Cloud :P
Come down and root for the "Sooners" baby..............It's centrally located in our country. Crossroads of America. I-40 and I-35 crisscross. Or you can see the Thunder/NBA. Bricktown is a great entertainment district.

There are large casinos within driving distance but not too far away and if you had the camp in a place I'm going to offer, I guaranty no one would be wiser for the attention.

And I can get you the meeting room/conference area for free..........(all you have to do is pay for the food and drink consumed)

This is a good idea, thank you.
I was kicking around different structures, and it seems like a weekend is a lot easier for most people. But I could probably squeeze a Friday-day session on basics, and then hit the top-secret stuff over the rest of the time.
I also kicked around the idea of actually doing like a 4-day or even week-long "convention" where we could bring in lots of different people: i.e. Nersesian/Rose for legal stuff, Fox/Chien for tax and accounting stuff, Dancer/Scott for VP, Schlesinger on BJ, MIT/Holy Rollers guys on teams, a poker expert, etc. (I have not contacted any of these people and have no business association with any of them. I'm only mentioning them as examples of experts in their fields, not as people who endorse me in any way). Maybe do some breakout sessions, and have a range of subjects being discussed.
My concern was that it would be insanely hard to insure spies/trolls didn't get in. I even seriously considered having everyone wear disguises like the Blackjack Ball. Maybe have it by Skype? This would make it logistically easy for speakers to speak remotely, but if we didn't all meet up we would lose the networking aspect, which I think is half the fun. Maybe we could do a few viewing sites for the speakers, and you could meet up with a few people in your area? Obviously, I'm just brainstorming, and there are a ton of factors to consider.
The Cash Cow.
I'm glad you guys who don't know about Oklahoma have such great ideas..........LOL It's not like the Highway Patrol is just "trolling" for folks on I-40 like in Arizona or coming out of CO. Considering the amount of traffic that runs through our city on I-40 and I-35, the odds of anyone being stopped are MINISCULE at best. This is not some backwater town or speed trap.
And as to the ante situation, actually that is starting to go by the wayside quite a bit. One nice smaller place never has it. Others don't have it on weekdays. And I was thinking this was a learning experience so thought I could insure no one got in that you didn't want, at where I would propose having the training. Could control the environment for the conference/learning. Then you could go play at the casino's without it being some "mass" attack at one place. It was an offer because like Moses proposes, there are lots of other things to do here.
But on the other hand, I like Moses' suggestion IF it's in the summertime. Reno/Tahoe has a lot going for it when the weather is nice. Vegas, because of it's enormity might sound good on one hand but because of the knowledge base there, it's like asking for trouble. I was trying to think outside the box since everyone is so worried about "blowing their cover".
