Rather than rathole chips when people need chips exchange your chips for their cash. It is out in the open, okay with the pit and does the same thing as ratholing which can get you in a bad situation.

Fortunately, they're not standing over you every minute of your visit. It's legal, so no big deal if they do happen to observe this and say something. It happens all the time.

I had checks play called on 4 green. I don't think they called black in action but they may have. I just remember thinking the call was kind of excessive.

The green bet is not to avoid "checks play" it's to avoid "black action". At one place, I would bet $300 in green and get no attention. Put one black out, and they're watching all of a sudden.

Lots of times it has nothing to do with card counting, just the pit's need to keep an accurate accounting of black chips.
